Mother in law found a snail in our lettuce we purchased . I said that's disgusting and she went on this long rant about how finding worms and snails in your vegetables means they are fresh

Basically she's full of excuses for anything and everything. If anything bad happens she can find away to defend it (even though finding one snail in 2 years of buying Chinese vegetables isn't really an attack on China at all, it could happen anywhere )

Even their fridges run warm, it's hard to get them to correct temp for food safety

They leave food out and say "oh it's cold enough outside it's okay"

My fridge back home is at about 1-5 degrees I'd say, but the ones here run about 15 at the lowest

And she won't let me make ice because she thinks the bacteria from the frozen meat in the freezer will contaminate my ice

I put it in the freezer and the next morning I see she took it out and dumped it

Chinese don't like eating raw vegetables. They think it will make you sick if you don't cook it
