if you're gonna emulate SNES make sure whatever you get can do MSU-1 this is fucking awsome shit
Yeah I know but it’s harder to get em now that most have shut down. If I build a raspi boy I want EVERY game on there
What’s MSU-1
here's an example of MSU1 capabilities, imagine playing Zelda with this music
or super mario world with this on an underwater level
there actually is a SNES cart with an SD slot that plays back those MSU1 music tracks also if you want the "real" experience
Damn that would be pretty sweet. I do like classic chiptune stuff tho. Maybe I should emulate and try out the MSU1 stuff on a raspi and start growing my physical collection at the same time
it should work on a raspi if you're using snes9x or bsnes those are the 2 emus with support
I confirmed it works on my Wii this morning
So how do you add the MSU1 then. And do you have to find the music yourself or?
they literally are PCM files though so we're talking 44.1.khz 16bit stereo uncompressed so they make games huge
a link to the past is 4 GB
I found a whole site yesterday dedicated to these ROM hacks and they link to PCM zips
Some of the DKC tracks are ok others suck ass so I'm going to mix and match what I use, at least for this game each PCM is interchangable I guess the looping metadata is inside
each file for each piece of music in the game
27 files for DKC
Sounds kind of complicated. Might have to get comfortable w the raspi before diving into this stuff but seems pretty sweet
I really like this simian segue remix
only thing I don't like is it's been compressed so much it sounds shitty on headphones
most of the new tracks are real solid
Yeah compressed stuff bothers me when it’s like that
holy shit is earthbound worth that much?
A cart is about 200 but I want the box and guide and stuff
Super rare to find everything in good condition on top of that
since it didnt sell well at the time and people are obsessed with it now, Id imagine it be a lot
the hardest part of these MSU1 things is they're ROM hacks and since it's technically illegal to distribute the ROM all you get is a patch file and some PCM files
so you have to patch the ROM and stick everything in it's own folder
Where do you get your roms from now?
I have a huge ton a friend shared with me on a flash drive
probably games I'll never play but I'm pretty sure he gave me every MAME and NES and SNES game ever made
and N64
I could figure out a way to share them with you
Dude I’d fucking pay you for em lmao
Idk if any site is able to handle that much storage tho. Let alone how long it would take to upload everything
I really want GBC and GBA romsets too. Some great games on there
do wii homebrew apps work any better on wii u?
