I think hormones have more to do with it then nurture.
but then also boys are taught early on that no-one GAF about their feelings and calls for help and to just get on with it
I've bawled my eyes out seeing a random broken barbie doll on the street
Because I just thought of the sad little girl who lost her best friend and is probably heartbroken. I just wanted to find her and give her a hug and tell her it's okay
@Euro looking for a green card Men and women have some different hormones, but i think we all have around the same amount of emotions. I count all emotions in the same class, so say a women can cry more, well maybe a man can get angry more (not 100% true, but just giving an example).
Men are told/discipline far more by nurture to control your emotions so you aren't mean or harm/kill others, and then women are are told their feelings matter like @Agent Smith said, men/boys understand no one cares for their feelings so they learn to deal with them. So yes, women might be more emotional, but it had a lot to do with how we are raised.
I was raised as a boy and that did not mean that being taught that worked. I still cried heavily back when I tried being a stoic as a teen.
Also, I can personally say the difference between mostly testosterone and most estrogen is highly noticeable and has significantly changed how I experience emotions. I think nurture is a very very small aspect of it overall
Especially since in a professional setting, women are far more expected to control their emotions to be taken seriously
I'm having a hard time not laughing at that.
Well, i did smile a bit.
Wait, which part @Shadows
👀
@Shadows I agree with the fact that men are taught more to control their emotions, but women's action are more driven by their emotions.
I probably should have made that more clear.
That's what happens when you are taught your emotions matter more..
@Deleted User If women are more expected to control their emotions, I would say that is for the fact that they let their emotions get in the way of doing their job efficiently.
I fully agree. There is a reason that the expectation is there, thus showing women are more emotional
>That's what happens when you are taught your emotions matter more..
Not at women are leftists
I accept your point of being taught on how to handle you emotions but I would still expect that the majority lies in hormones not in nurture.
Have you ever had a girlfriend that got of the pill?
Probably not a fair argument as those are synthetic hormones.
Which are chemically identical to your own produced ones
So it is a fair argument. Different amounts of hormones change feelings and behavior
Being emotional doesn't necessarily have to do with your political view although they are usually a good predictor. I know conservative women that often react irrationally (emotionally driven) and later can't believe they acted that way.
I'm saying that I never hear women being taught their emotions are more important
That's just silly
I question that synthetic hormones are the same as naturally produced ones. That usually is never the case with any synthetic supplements.
Ok. Shadows. I’m a man. When i control my emotions, it’s usually anger. Like 80% of the time. Sometimes, I can’t cry even if I feel like it and I’m alone. It’s more biology not social conditioning
It's almost all biology
@Deleted User Almost everything you keep saying i find silly, but you are free to do so.
Yeah.
Okay, to be fair the feeling is rather mutual
😘
Looks like we are going to witness a little live presentation of what emotions do to you and how they influence your behaviour. 🍿
@Salacious Swanky Cat I'm glad someone here is reasonable
an interesting video on marketing to women based on their hormones:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIywaHerecY&t=1376s
@grant is it about pheromones? I didn’t think there were human ones
There are, they've done studies about how women's are less attracted to male musk if it is too genetically similar to them
She mentions that in the video, but its more about how the hormones in women's cycle affects her behavior. And at the end she explains how this affects how women spend money.
The main take away should be that hormones affect behavior, and there's data to support this.
Yes. I must be high T because I seldom cry and I get pissed really easily. Lol
There’s also something like ‘I want what I want and I want it NOW’
I don’t like showing emotion though. My dad brought me up that way. So I’d say nurture is a factor.
