@Euro looking for a green card I saw that video and the one linked by @grant on his channel.
My question to those people: Do women have more empathy then men? (i would say maybe, maybe not). Do you know what empathy means? It helps us understand other peoples point of view, so if women were really better at this, why would it be hard to say men are better at some things WHILE not demeaning them, if you can understand/empathize with other humans?

2018-12-05 14:26:17 UTC

The response would likely be that empathy is more a feeling of compassion without logically thinking things trough.
The result is that nice warm feeling you get when you say you show empathy to somebody else. Challenging questions like the ones in the video show that these people have never thought about the most logical and scientifically proven facts of life.

2018-12-05 14:26:47 UTC

Empathy today is 90% virtue signalling!

2018-12-05 14:39:05 UTC

Women are just more emotional.

2018-12-05 14:39:19 UTC

You are not wrong, but that's not all empathy is. If you can have feelings of compassion for someone and understand where they are coming from, meaning you should understand the point of view they are giving or you can just see it without being told. It means you should understand the importance of another person, and if you know that, you should know how good it is to give people credit for what they are capable of. Then you should know what capabilities different people have, so saying men are better then women at some things would be the simplest thing to do (if you really were empathetic)

2018-12-05 14:40:07 UTC

@Salacious Swanky Cat I don't think so, they are just never taught to control them (like most men).

2018-12-05 14:40:49 UTC

@Shadows I know men and women who can’t control their emotions. Its more of a women thing than men.

2018-12-05 14:41:06 UTC

I don’t know if it’s about being taught.

2018-12-05 14:42:04 UTC

I wouldn't say its 100%, but it is indeed about being taught not how to control them.

2018-12-05 14:43:22 UTC

trans-women do say that the hormones do make them more weepy than they used to be

2018-12-05 14:44:25 UTC

I think hormones have more to do with it then nurture.

2018-12-05 14:44:29 UTC

but then also boys are taught early on that no-one GAF about their feelings and calls for help and to just get on with it

2018-12-05 14:56:07 UTC

I've bawled my eyes out seeing a random broken barbie doll on the street

2018-12-05 14:56:57 UTC

Because I just thought of the sad little girl who lost her best friend and is probably heartbroken. I just wanted to find her and give her a hug and tell her it's okay

2018-12-05 14:59:38 UTC

@Euro looking for a green card Men and women have some different hormones, but i think we all have around the same amount of emotions. I count all emotions in the same class, so say a women can cry more, well maybe a man can get angry more (not 100% true, but just giving an example).
Men are told/discipline far more by nurture to control your emotions so you aren't mean or harm/kill others, and then women are are told their feelings matter like @Agent Smith said, men/boys understand no one cares for their feelings so they learn to deal with them. So yes, women might be more emotional, but it had a lot to do with how we are raised.

2018-12-05 15:03:31 UTC

I was raised as a boy and that did not mean that being taught that worked. I still cried heavily back when I tried being a stoic as a teen.

Also, I can personally say the difference between mostly testosterone and most estrogen is highly noticeable and has significantly changed how I experience emotions. I think nurture is a very very small aspect of it overall

2018-12-05 15:04:31 UTC

Especially since in a professional setting, women are far more expected to control their emotions to be taken seriously

2018-12-05 15:05:31 UTC

I'm having a hard time not laughing at that.

2018-12-05 15:05:58 UTC

Well, i did smile a bit.

2018-12-05 15:07:52 UTC

Wait, which part @Shadows

2018-12-05 15:07:57 UTC

👀

2018-12-05 15:13:33 UTC

@Shadows I agree with the fact that men are taught more to control their emotions, but women's action are more driven by their emotions.
I probably should have made that more clear.

2018-12-05 15:14:12 UTC

That's what happens when you are taught your emotions matter more..

2018-12-05 15:15:15 UTC

@Deleted User If women are more expected to control their emotions, I would say that is for the fact that they let their emotions get in the way of doing their job efficiently.

2018-12-05 15:16:08 UTC

I fully agree. There is a reason that the expectation is there, thus showing women are more emotional

2018-12-05 15:16:37 UTC

>That's what happens when you are taught your emotions matter more..

Not at women are leftists

2018-12-05 15:16:55 UTC

I accept your point of being taught on how to handle you emotions but I would still expect that the majority lies in hormones not in nurture.
Have you ever had a girlfriend that got of the pill?

2018-12-05 15:17:16 UTC

Probably not a fair argument as those are synthetic hormones.

2018-12-05 15:17:52 UTC

Which are chemically identical to your own produced ones

2018-12-05 15:18:18 UTC

So it is a fair argument. Different amounts of hormones change feelings and behavior

2018-12-05 15:18:49 UTC

Being emotional doesn't necessarily have to do with your political view although they are usually a good predictor. I know conservative women that often react irrationally (emotionally driven) and later can't believe they acted that way.

2018-12-05 15:19:31 UTC

I'm saying that I never hear women being taught their emotions are more important

2018-12-05 15:19:34 UTC

That's just silly

2018-12-05 15:20:02 UTC

I question that synthetic hormones are the same as naturally produced ones. That usually is never the case with any synthetic supplements.

2018-12-05 15:20:21 UTC

Ok. Shadows. I’m a man. When i control my emotions, it’s usually anger. Like 80% of the time. Sometimes, I can’t cry even if I feel like it and I’m alone. It’s more biology not social conditioning

2018-12-05 15:20:42 UTC

It's almost all biology

2018-12-05 15:20:45 UTC

@Deleted User Almost everything you keep saying i find silly, but you are free to do so.

2018-12-05 15:20:47 UTC

Yeah.

2018-12-05 15:24:20 UTC

Okay, to be fair the feeling is rather mutual

2018-12-05 15:24:28 UTC

😘
