most common belife on that I think is jesus is the only way to get to god or be in right standing with him right?

2018-02-12 17:15:51 UTC

Anyway, I found nothing that says that Jesus is the only one. What Cato said is correct and none can get to heaven except through Jesus, but that's not really what is going on. We're not praying for them to let us into heaven. We're asking the Saints to pray for us and on our behalf

2018-02-12 17:16:23 UTC

So no, Jesus isn't the only one who can pray to God

2018-02-12 17:16:34 UTC

which is effectively what was asked

2018-02-12 17:16:52 UTC

^true according to the dogma I grew up with in catholic church

2018-02-12 17:17:19 UTC

so when the bible says he is at the right hand of God interceding with us...to me that means he has our back so God doesn't destroy us in His rightous anger lol

2018-02-12 17:17:28 UTC

so we pray to Jesus for forgiveness of sin

2018-02-12 17:17:32 UTC

for guidance etc

2018-02-12 17:18:02 UTC

are there any verses in the bible that discusses saints being able to perform that same function

2018-02-12 17:18:51 UTC

from biblical understang of scripture I have read I dont belive saints are technicly a thing

2018-02-12 17:19:21 UTC

no, because they cannot

2018-02-12 17:19:49 UTC

though much of the bible suffers in translation and from what I can tell otthodoxy has the dogma and tradidtions handed down that predate text

2018-02-12 17:20:08 UTC

here's what the textbook says

2018-02-12 17:22:11 UTC

John 14:6 Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me.

__**Others Besides God Who Are Depicted in the Holy Icons**__

Besides God we depict in the holy icons **the Mother of God, the holy angels and holy people.**

We should pray to them not as to God, but as being close to God, as having pleased Him by their holy life. Out of love for us they pray for us before God, and we should ask for their help and intercession because the Lord for their sake will more speedily hear our sinful prayers.

2018-02-12 17:23:46 UTC

They are the "great cloud of witnesses" that are mentioned as attesting to our faith.

2018-02-12 17:25:00 UTC

I think the admiration of saints and the practice comes from the merger of ancestor worship that the pagan belifes had I could be wrong

2018-02-12 17:25:48 UTC

@QuackDoktor are you quoting revilation out of curiousity

2018-02-12 17:26:26 UTC

So, the long and short of it is that the saints are watching over us, and that we're asking them to pray to God on our behalf that he might hear our prayers. They are not divine, they are not being prayed to as we pray to God. They are simply people who lived holy lives and are praying all of us

2018-02-12 17:32:32 UTC

@Vice Commander Hunt nigga whatchu want

__**Chapter 13**__
*Icons*
In the church on the iconostasis, along the walls, and at home in the corners are the **holy icons**, before which we say our prayers.
An **icon** or **image** is what we call the representation of God Himself, the Mother of God, the angels, or the saints. This representation is consecrated with Holy Water and prayer. Through this blessing the Grace of the Holy Spirit is imparted to the icon, and we reverence the icon as being holy. There are icons, through which the Grace of God that abides in them is revealed even by miracles, for instance in the healing of the sick.

hmm I wonder If it would be a good idea to add 2 religion channels for chat on pagan and christian topics

2018-02-12 17:34:32 UTC

The saviour Himself gave us His portrait. Moved to compassion, He wiped His sacred face with a towel for the sick prince Abgar. When the sick prince prayed before this icon of the Saviour, that had not been made with hands (*pictured above*), he was healed of his illness.

2018-02-12 17:34:48 UTC

I think that's a good idea, so I don't clog up this channel and piss off the pagans

2018-02-12 17:35:27 UTC

and so if people have questions to ask, they can get answered without getting buried in the day to day conversations

2018-02-12 17:35:37 UTC
2018-02-12 17:35:41 UTC

shoot im pagan leaning but im agnostic so I enjoy learning truths from all sides

2018-02-12 17:35:43 UTC

would that be okay?

2018-02-12 17:36:28 UTC

@ghostofthevolk Not entirely sure, but I believe it's Hebrews

2018-02-12 17:36:53 UTC

I was the same way @ghostofthevolk . I used to be pagan, but I liked listening to Bishop Williamson and I read Luther's *On the Jews and Their Lies*

2018-02-12 17:37:27 UTC

I still appreciate Pagan culture. I don't believe it, but it holds a place in my heart

2018-02-12 17:37:33 UTC

Nah nigga it's fine keep talking it here

2018-02-12 17:37:38 UTC
