2019-07-10 23:26:51 UTC

it's a very worrying trend, I'd wager Aus will probably try and adopt something like social credit in the next 5 years

2019-07-10 23:27:14 UTC

Yeah. Y’all are filled with commies

both sides are so concerned with what people say and do at a political level

2019-07-10 23:28:32 UTC

but as a culture in theory we're supposed to be irreverent

2019-07-10 23:31:18 UTC

Yang knows what happens to people when you give them welfare and he's already said the whole reason for UBI is because he's afraid of a white middle American uprising due to jobs being automated away

2019-07-10 23:32:06 UTC

he's "afraid"

2019-07-10 23:32:08 UTC

?

2019-07-10 23:32:12 UTC

the social credit score aspect is to increase even more gov power over the people

2019-07-10 23:33:42 UTC

yeah - I forget the source, it was a while ago but yeah, afraid

2019-07-10 23:36:52 UTC

the same way that Steven Crowder said he's "afraid" of milkshakes?

2019-07-10 23:38:13 UTC

I don't know how Crowder said that

2019-07-10 23:39:17 UTC

in the latest Google edition of Change My Mind

2019-07-10 23:40:06 UTC

idk i guess i just don't like the word afraid too wishy washy, do people literally mean struck with fear?

2019-07-10 23:43:22 UTC
2019-07-10 23:43:35 UTC

2019-07-10 23:43:37 UTC

2019-07-10 23:44:20 UTC

The problem with the milkshaking is you cannot retaliate. If someone milkshakes you and yoylu break their nose, you will go to jail for assault because it is not self defense unless their is immanent danger. In theory the danger has passed and you are only being retaliatory. They are internationally provoking you to get you in more trouble

2019-07-11 01:25:14 UTC

Socially you will get destroyed for not using proportional force. What are you supposed to do, ask them to stand still until you get through the queue at the closest mecdonalds and return with your own milkshake

2019-07-11 01:25:47 UTC

The mature thing to do if the threat has passed is to notify police and hope they take action

2019-07-11 01:25:56 UTC

As far as I'm concerned if someone throws anything in your face you are fully justified in decking them.

2019-07-11 01:26:05 UTC

But unfortunately the law is not on my side.

2019-07-11 01:29:30 UTC

I'd settle for the police merely taking such things seriously. Throwing food at someone should earn you at least a night in jail and maybe some community service. It is utterly antisocial, unacceptable behavior and the fact that people are doing it on video and getting no repercussions at all sickens me.

2019-07-11 01:33:13 UTC

@Putz
*"The problem with the milkshaking is you cannot retaliate. If someone milkshakes you and yoylu break their nose, you will go to jail for assault because it is not self defense unless their is immanent danger."*
I disagree. A threw substance on B. A only knows they were attacked. It wasn't until the cops pulled me off that I realized it wasn't dangerous.
And yes, I have been there and done that. At best, you both go, your charges are later dropped...
And that's what happened in my case. (It was coffee, but it was cold.)

Now with Portland raising the stakes, the threshold is significantly lowered.

2019-07-11 01:33:52 UTC

That also gets into the debate of wether to punish the outcome, the action, or the intent. If you through a milkshake at someone and the straw stabs them in the eye and they have blindness in one eye. Is the punishment still one night in jail?
