There's a forgotten weapons video where they show what happens if you try shooting one. They loaded it with as many bullets as they could, which was less than one single standard magazine, and they managed to fire about twelve rounds or so before the springs shot out the end.
303's from ww2 are still pretty common in NZ... granted they aren't allowed semi-auto's anymore so they don't have much of a choice
