*"Baltimore recently spent $18 million to avoid paying a $75,000 ransom after its computer systems were infected with ransomware, which can be prevented by basic security practices.
Baltimore spent $18M to save $75K, all because they got hit by an easily avoidable attack."*
$75k×1Ø alone is $75Øk...
It's not a perfect solution, but
***We Don't Cave To Terrorists.***
I was unclear in my original phrasing. The point I was trying to make was that the ransomware in the first place was preventable, but happened anyway, probably because (speculation on my part, but would fit the behavior) the ones in charge did not want to pay to implement security practices which would prevent it, and cost much less than $18M or $75K

@Mandatory Carry It's been a bunch of back and forth shit, but we're all hopefully still friends
@Spanners
... Ok. That's fair.
Hollywood is pandering to China to stay afloat
Alternatively, they could make good movies
They seem incapable, hence the pandering
they are not trying to stay solvent
they are pushing propaganda, regardless of the return, just like every other industry of influence
marxists did not invade these industries and start pumping out anti-western propaganda in order to make money. they did it to spread world marxism, and their power is based in china, hence the pandering to the current world capital of marxist expansion
isn't there tax benefits to making failed films?
i am pretty sure the benefits of making a hit movie are better than making a failed one
i'm not an accountant but maybe you could write off the loss on your taxes? but i'm guessing the tax break is much less than potential profits that hollywood wants
i could be wrong though
Isn’t this slavery? https://twitter.com/johndelaney/status/1155434279347916800?s=21
I don't understand this move. does he think it will be popular?
@Agent Smith
*"isn't there tax benefits to making failed films?"*
Generally speaking, no. To make money from a failure (*The Producers* scenario) requires about a year of preparation, and sneaking every bit of the plan past a dozen people **OR** having them onboard.
... It has worked before, though.
@I Know a Fat Guy
Borderline. My brother was advocating something like that when I first floated reinstating the militia system, and tbf I said the same thing.
@Legalize
No.
Have you thought about changing your name to Peopledatory Carry? Its very exclusionary at the moment.
When this all falls apart, and the war is over, and we're rebuilding, we will once again have a distinction between the men who hold a claim to direct their communities, and those who don't. The idea of mandatory service is a warped remnant of the past, but is not compatible with universal suffrage. Franchise should be tied to service, but once you extend the franchise to everyone with a pulse, you've moved too far past what is sensible for the accompanying requirement for service to even matter.
We don't need an expansion of service. We need a contraction of franchise, but the cycle does not move in that direction peacefully.
