I would just abandon the term, as it's politically charged while having no utility outside of that context
Okay.
Legalize is a dirty dirty smearmerchant.
Ban this Mod.
I still question the utility of "left" and "right" tbh
Damn straight!
That's essentially the extent of it. To those that identify as left, right just means things they dont agree with, and vice versa
It's just Communism v.s Facism all over again.
Bring on 2020!
What.
Well communism and fascism are actually real easy to delineate. I assume you mean socialism though, which is still somewhat different if very similar
oof
Quite likely the former.
I think it might be easiest to split socialism and fascism by the goal of the state, but even then people would argue otherwise
Because there are "socialists" who dont want communism
And it's also sort of a hindsight designation
I think it might be because fascism is a purely political designation while socialism is an economic one, really
Socialism is a misguided pathway, regardless. But, yes, terminology does get muddy.
Maybe @Mandatory Carry can explain it.
👀
Prolly
Yes.
As if it helps.
Socialism is easiest to understand as a transitionary state into communist utopia that never seems to make it beyond transitioning
Marxism explicitly identifies Socialism as the transitional form between capitalism and communism.
Funny that
Ah @Beemann beat me to it.
Indeed.
But socialist tendances are found in facists as much as communists
Let the segue begin!
Yes, because fascists employ socialist economic theories as well as more market driven ones
The goal of fascism is the preservation of the state
Wherein all component parts exist in service of the greater whole
Facists are therefore less dogmatic in their application of tyranny
I thought the goal of fascism was beating people with bundles of sticks?
@A. Spader both are authoritarian systems and imo the biggest difference is nationalism vs internationalism.
I dont think they're less dogmatic at all
I would suggest that they merely have a more nebulous goal
My point being the facist will tyrannize any way he can whereas the communist uses only the state as his engine of oppression
Ah, well that's not really true either
