YEEEEET

2019-09-05 16:43:54 UTC

sleigh

2019-09-05 16:44:04 UTC

Slay!

2019-09-05 16:44:10 UTC

ho ho ho

2019-09-05 16:44:17 UTC

I would just abandon the term, as it's politically charged while having no utility outside of that context

2019-09-05 16:44:50 UTC

Okay.

2019-09-05 16:44:57 UTC

Legalize is a dirty dirty smearmerchant.

2019-09-05 16:45:12 UTC

Ban this Mod.

2019-09-05 16:45:15 UTC

I still question the utility of "left" and "right" tbh

2019-09-05 16:45:33 UTC

Damn straight!

2019-09-05 16:46:01 UTC

That's essentially the extent of it. To those that identify as left, right just means things they dont agree with, and vice versa

2019-09-05 16:46:40 UTC

It's just Communism v.s Facism all over again.

2019-09-05 16:46:58 UTC

Bring on 2020!

2019-09-05 16:47:11 UTC

What.

2019-09-05 16:47:21 UTC

Well communism and fascism are actually real easy to delineate. I assume you mean socialism though, which is still somewhat different if very similar

2019-09-05 16:47:42 UTC

oof

2019-09-05 16:47:48 UTC

Quite likely the former.

2019-09-05 16:47:59 UTC

I think it might be easiest to split socialism and fascism by the goal of the state, but even then people would argue otherwise

2019-09-05 16:48:11 UTC

Because there are "socialists" who dont want communism

2019-09-05 16:48:33 UTC

And it's also sort of a hindsight designation

2019-09-05 16:49:35 UTC

I think it might be because fascism is a purely political designation while socialism is an economic one, really

2019-09-05 16:50:28 UTC

Socialism is a misguided pathway, regardless. But, yes, terminology does get muddy.

2019-09-05 16:50:38 UTC

Maybe @Mandatory Carry can explain it.

2019-09-05 16:51:11 UTC

👀

2019-09-05 16:51:31 UTC

Socialism is such a broad term nowadays it's almost lost its meaning

2019-09-05 16:51:56 UTC

Prolly

2019-09-05 16:51:59 UTC

Yes.

2019-09-05 16:52:11 UTC

As if it helps.

2019-09-05 16:52:38 UTC

Socialism is easiest to understand as a transitionary state into communist utopia that never seems to make it beyond transitioning

2019-09-05 16:52:49 UTC

Marxism explicitly identifies Socialism as the transitional form between capitalism and communism.

2019-09-05 16:52:50 UTC

Funny that

2019-09-05 16:52:54 UTC

Ah @Beemann beat me to it.

2019-09-05 16:53:09 UTC

Indeed.

2019-09-05 16:53:15 UTC

But socialist tendances are found in facists as much as communists

2019-09-05 16:53:17 UTC

Let the segue begin!

2019-09-05 16:53:47 UTC

Yes, because fascists employ socialist economic theories as well as more market driven ones

2019-09-05 16:54:04 UTC

The goal of fascism is the preservation of the state

2019-09-05 16:54:19 UTC

Wherein all component parts exist in service of the greater whole

2019-09-05 16:54:27 UTC

Facists are therefore less dogmatic in their application of tyranny

2019-09-05 16:54:28 UTC

I thought the goal of fascism was beating people with bundles of sticks?

2019-09-05 16:54:32 UTC

@A. Spader both are authoritarian systems and imo the biggest difference is nationalism vs internationalism.
