Iran only seeks nukes for sovereignty and the power to ensure they don't get fucked in trade wars.
And I’d argue that it works.
for the record I don;t think the deal was all fox news made it out to be but it wasn;t a magic bullet ether
Kept the US and Soviets from engaging directly in war.
I think it’s an entirely overrated issue.
agreed
Even though I think foreign policy is the hardest topic
Lol
Ok. Bedtime
it was a medoiore deal from a presidency who's foreign policy was pretty mediocre too
not awful, not great
Tulsi for national security advisor after DNC cheats her out of her candidacy
why
she'll just get overruled by the "but daddy" wing of the Trump presidency on every important decision
even if Israel has nukes they wouldn't use them they have so much support from people they would lose a lot if they did
idk
I think most of the same people who hate Israel would wake up still hating Israel and most of the people who defend Israel would wake up and figure a way to defend Israel
yes but at least one side would be wrong at that point
or more clearly wrong I guess
Nuking a country that was gonna nuke you doesn't seem like it's gonna lose anyone you already had in your camp
you'd have to prove they were going to nuke you
idk
prove to who?
the UN?
the body that spends equal time condemning israel and the rest of the world?
public opinion I guess
no I think reasonable suspision is all they;d need to satasfy their allies
I'm not saying that's good but by and large with Israel the enemy and ally camps are already so firmly entrenched I doubt them nuking Iran makes much of a difference
Just keep in mind: Iran's been in a state of war with the US since 1979
should have turned the place into a glass carpark years ago
Making the case that Iran was going to nuke them first gets pretty easy when you look at all the rhetoric from Iran about wiping Israel off the map.
This may just be me
but when I was going through basic, one of the first things you get told is
if the guy looking to kill you repetitively says he's gonna kill you, it's better if you believe him
the best middle east foreign policy is to say "do whatever the fuck you want to each other, we don't care, unless you screw with us in which case we will wipe you off the face of the earth"
but alas that hasn't been true of us foreign policy since the 1800s
She would probably get overruled less than Bolton did. Time for Trump to live up to his anti war retoric
@A. Spader I generally agree
but sadly I don't think that doctrine can be kept to even in the best of times
There are some things, imo, which are decidedly in our (ie the West's) interests which justify at least staying there
