Plus close to 100% of society never accepted Christ in their life.

2019-10-06 21:20:22 UTC

So what?

2019-10-06 21:20:38 UTC

Okay yeah. If I create a living being and torture it eternally, I think that would make me a shitty creator.

2019-10-06 21:20:46 UTC

Why is God obligated to catering to your sensibilities

2019-10-06 21:20:50 UTC

If you don't think that's bad, we'll never agree.

2019-10-06 21:21:11 UTC

"do unto others as you would have done into you"

2019-10-06 21:21:11 UTC

So God is immoral for reasons you can’t justify

2019-10-06 21:21:29 UTC

I think guaranteed eternal suffering contradicts that.

2019-10-06 21:21:35 UTC

Unless God is a masochist.

2019-10-06 21:22:04 UTC

Why is it guaranteed

2019-10-06 21:22:18 UTC

God is omnipotent, how are there things he cannot change?

2019-10-06 21:22:36 UTC

short of it being a contradictory request, it's within his power, no?

2019-10-06 21:22:36 UTC

If you were born a cananite. You are guaranteed to have been killed by the Jews before you could repent or accept Christ.

2019-10-06 21:22:55 UTC

"0 iThe times of ignorance jGod overlooked, but know he lcommands all people everywhere to repent, "acts 17:30

2019-10-06 21:22:56 UTC

Or just die without ever hearing about him.

2019-10-06 21:23:09 UTC

sorry for the footnotes

2019-10-06 21:23:15 UTC

So then there is repentance after death?

2019-10-06 21:23:21 UTC

Okay so your point is God can't exist because people get tortured at birth?

2019-10-06 21:23:26 UTC

No

2019-10-06 21:23:28 UTC

Because people die before they can do what he says?

2019-10-06 21:23:40 UTC

Just not the Nicene Creed's definition of God.

2019-10-06 21:24:07 UTC

Pretty much any offshoot of Catholicism I cannot get behind.

2019-10-06 21:25:01 UTC

eternal suffering is the fate of chosing to be far from God,

2019-10-06 21:25:21 UTC

It's not His punishment

2019-10-06 21:25:43 UTC

When do you choose?

2019-10-06 21:25:48 UTC

Does it have to be in this life?

2019-10-06 21:25:53 UTC

Yes

2019-10-06 21:26:05 UTC

Then the cananites were never given that choice

2019-10-06 21:26:21 UTC

unless you believe in purgatory

2019-10-06 21:26:39 UTC

evangelical denominations do not

2019-10-06 21:27:14 UTC

read the verse with the annoying foot notes

2019-10-06 21:27:59 UTC

"The times of ignorance God overlooked, but know he commands all people everywhere to repent" acts 17:30

2019-10-06 21:28:01 UTC

So then if you never heard of Christ you are held to a different standard?

2019-10-06 21:28:15 UTC

I would say so

2019-10-06 21:28:34 UTC

So, forgetting the cananites for now, what about people that were born after Christ died but couldn't have heard of him (i.e American indians, Japan etc)

2019-10-06 21:28:45 UTC

but that is way out of my league

2019-10-06 21:29:03 UTC

My take is that evolution is God's game. Just as natural selection winnows the gene pool, spiritual selection winnows the 'spirit pool'. God is He who selects. And I presume He is selecting us *for* some greater purpose.

"Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit."

Not exactly apropos of the exact discussion I guess.

2019-10-06 21:29:05 UTC

@ThePortugueseGuy that is reasonable.

2019-10-06 21:29:38 UTC

@uncephalized does that mean our soul or consciousness exist before God?

2019-10-06 21:29:45 UTC

Or does he intentionally make us to fail?

2019-10-06 21:30:13 UTC

But even that way is the blood of Christ over their lives that saves.
