or worse...down
I'm so sick of the idea of separation of church and state being about just protecting the state from the church. To quote a Swede "They really got their grip on power, they exterminated the Swedish state church, so they basically killed God and replaced him with the Social Democratic Party. That's why for most Swedes, Social Democracy is more of a religion than an actual political philosophy. "
Be man, it sounds as if you’re looking for a perfect solution. That isn’t going to happen. I’m not saying that religion is always going to work for every single individual. The reason why is because people are sinful by nature. What that means is that they’re going to make poor decisions and stray away from the truth. Nobody is immune to it. That doesn’t make religion invalid.
Separation of church and state goes both ways
I'm not looking for a perfect solution, I'm saying there isn't a singular solution
As someone who is not religious. I do not think society is ready to move beyond religion yet. Some people are and that's fine. but we need a movement that keeps the values like individualism alive as society becomes more secular.
This is kind of thing about questioning why the fence is there before tearing it out.
Sounds like you're advocating for another Billy Graham era
The fence is already torn down. I don't think people are going to be happy with you gluing the splinters back together
We do need a revival. 😃
By the way, apparently Brett Weinstein and Richard Dawkins had a discussion about religion and its role in society. Does anyone know if they put of video of it yet?
I'm a fan of Theodemocracy
Sounds like thermodynamics
You're also a dirty Keynesian tho
Are you advocating ovens there mate
@Beemann <3
Brett Weinstein actually argues that religion is a natural cultural evolution and has things society needs.
or something like that
Cats is
She’s a heretic >: (
That's the thing though, I think society needs a sort of secular blueprint for general cohesiveness now that a lot of the traditional methods have been torn down
It’s really curious that humans evolved with the need for spirituality. I wonder why that happened?🤔 Totally by chance.
And that's been my motivation in the manhood ritual discussions as well, fwiw
Well Harris would define spirituality very specifically
And use it to refer to, for instance, the feeling you get when you look at a work of art
Harris is also a socialist cunt
Nobody's perfect
Fair
Hitchens loved Trotsky for a while
Even Dershowitz voted for the Hildabeast
Dawkins just devolved into a screaming retard though
He’s basically the blueprint for every “militant atheist” out there
Which is unfortunate
Dawkins is probably struggling with a lot of stress. I don't know that he had a retreat after the left exiled him
Harris does, Hitchens did and also died
And yet he still shills for that shit
Also gun control
The guy just loves him some government boots on his face
It’s like proving grants pointe🤔
Hitchens and Harris didn't need religion though, so what does that prove exactly?
