Even more so if you have different topics people bring up in each.

for instance say I have a video to back up what I'm discussing here I'd have to go post in the video channel which then splits the discussion and potentially interupts a discussion already happening over there

the other option is blocking text from the video/image channels

You can always link a video in here.... Or post it there and point people over to it, not sure what's hard about that.

i just said what's hard about that, it splits conversation unnecessarily and interrupts what ever is happening over there

rather than containing the related video to the related conversation

and also redirecting the person there, that's another unnecessary' step to take

Having the link channels allows for conversation to occur without general chats being flooded with shitty memes

i can see the usefulness of a link channel as an overflow

but agree with radspakr on allowing links in general for continuity

that's why I was saying like having a politics channel as a seperate thing and a separate one for general/shitposting
