they would have to reschedule hours

2019-10-25 02:00:41 UTC

receivers, the people who are responsible to take in all products going into those stores work during certain times... its the most difficult part of what i do

2019-10-25 02:00:47 UTC

so that is eliminating a huge amount of low skilled manual labor jobs, in favor for a relatively small amount of very high paying engineering and programming roles, to which are only available to a certain subsection of people that are mentally capable of doing this type of work

2019-10-25 02:01:08 UTC

You guys are massively underestimating the cost of insuring a human health wise, and work comp, and sick time vacation, not mention the fact that a robot doesn't have to obey hours of service.

2019-10-25 02:01:26 UTC

they cannot have the product sitting in the back room bc much of it is frozen or perishable and needs to be put on the shelf when they have the majority of their employees in the store that is why after 12 they normally arrive

2019-10-25 02:01:47 UTC

@nadrud refers can run all night on a tank of fuel, bro.

2019-10-25 02:02:01 UTC

your not considering the actual logistics of when the product arrives at its final destination

2019-10-25 02:02:07 UTC

Dock space is a larger limitation

2019-10-25 02:02:26 UTC

nadrud literally they have solutions for all of that, half of the van is robotically conveyor movable to reorganize stuff that needs to be kept cold in a refridgerated subarea of the truck

2019-10-25 02:02:28 UTC

you work at a store?

2019-10-25 02:02:32 UTC

their system is fucking insanne

2019-10-25 02:02:39 UTC

no

2019-10-25 02:02:43 UTC

@nadrud thats literally my job. I deliver perishables to restaurants, which is the most just in time industry in the states.

2019-10-25 02:02:44 UTC

and im just saying dont get hung up on the Truck aspoect

2019-10-25 02:02:45 UTC

they do not work like that in their stores

2019-10-25 02:02:48 UTC

i do it everyday

2019-10-25 02:02:51 UTC

@Make Jerusalem Christian Again I only ask because the subcontinental descent thing lol

2019-10-25 02:02:51 UTC

i see what they do

2019-10-25 02:02:57 UTC

It's somewhat opposite here

2019-10-25 02:03:09 UTC

The south Asians buy new

2019-10-25 02:03:13 UTC

@Deleted User they're fucking everywhere.

2019-10-25 02:03:14 UTC

they are not going to double staff

2019-10-25 02:03:22 UTC

just to eliminate the cost of 1 driver

2019-10-25 02:03:22 UTC

The Strayans who have been in the business for forever have mostly kept their trucks

2019-10-25 02:03:28 UTC

Bought from the 80s, the 90s

2019-10-25 02:03:28 UTC

or 2

2019-10-25 02:03:29 UTC

etc

2019-10-25 02:03:29 UTC

or 3

2019-10-25 02:03:35 UTC

it doesn't make business sense

2019-10-25 02:03:51 UTC

@nadrud they won't have to. But they could afford to. Walmart drivers are some of the highest paid in the industry that makes well above median wages.

2019-10-25 02:03:54 UTC

take a moment and think

2019-10-25 02:04:09 UTC

who told you that?

2019-10-25 02:04:12 UTC

its more about were eliminating huge amounts of jobs and replacing them with jobs that you might need an IQ of >120 or something to do, and the reality is that the people that arent blessed with that will be SOL

2019-10-25 02:04:25 UTC

wages for them will be further driven down

2019-10-25 02:04:45 UTC

So yes, all of this saves money, its more efficient, its a better solution

2019-10-25 02:04:48 UTC

You can pay 4 Walmart dock workers for what I make. I'm probably in the 60-70 percentile of drivers.

2019-10-25 02:05:09 UTC

but its also fucking over the country by eliminating the need for labor

2019-10-25 02:05:10 UTC

dock workers are lemmings

2019-10-25 02:05:15 UTC

exactly

2019-10-25 02:05:15 UTC

they arn't dock workers btw

2019-10-25 02:05:21 UTC

A ruthless Darwinian would let natural selection take care of the problem.
