I'm talking about intercompany transfers and line hauls. The freight that beat trains.
walmart receives from private venders, like myself from 4 am to 10am
then they go on break and then their trucks come sometime between 1 and 4 pm
@nadrud yea, now. Reschedule your truck guys, or offload the truck in the morning when they show up.
they would have to reschedule hours
receivers, the people who are responsible to take in all products going into those stores work during certain times... its the most difficult part of what i do
so that is eliminating a huge amount of low skilled manual labor jobs, in favor for a relatively small amount of very high paying engineering and programming roles, to which are only available to a certain subsection of people that are mentally capable of doing this type of work
You guys are massively underestimating the cost of insuring a human health wise, and work comp, and sick time vacation, not mention the fact that a robot doesn't have to obey hours of service.
they cannot have the product sitting in the back room bc much of it is frozen or perishable and needs to be put on the shelf when they have the majority of their employees in the store that is why after 12 they normally arrive
@nadrud refers can run all night on a tank of fuel, bro.
your not considering the actual logistics of when the product arrives at its final destination
Dock space is a larger limitation
nadrud literally they have solutions for all of that, half of the van is robotically conveyor movable to reorganize stuff that needs to be kept cold in a refridgerated subarea of the truck
you work at a store?
their system is fucking insanne
no
@nadrud thats literally my job. I deliver perishables to restaurants, which is the most just in time industry in the states.
and im just saying dont get hung up on the Truck aspoect
they do not work like that in their stores
i do it everyday
i see what they do
It's somewhat opposite here
The south Asians buy new
@Deleted User they're fucking everywhere.
they are not going to double staff
just to eliminate the cost of 1 driver
The Strayans who have been in the business for forever have mostly kept their trucks
Bought from the 80s, the 90s
or 2
etc
or 3
it doesn't make business sense
@nadrud they won't have to. But they could afford to. Walmart drivers are some of the highest paid in the industry that makes well above median wages.
take a moment and think
who told you that?
its more about were eliminating huge amounts of jobs and replacing them with jobs that you might need an IQ of >120 or something to do, and the reality is that the people that arent blessed with that will be SOL
wages for them will be further driven down
So yes, all of this saves money, its more efficient, its a better solution
You can pay 4 Walmart dock workers for what I make. I'm probably in the 60-70 percentile of drivers.
but its also fucking over the country by eliminating the need for labor
