The ring that's supposed to fasten the tip to the handle of the T12 soldering station doesn't... well it doesn't even reach the threading on the male part.

I guess it's just there to retain the tip.

The tip doesn't go any farther in, so I felt moderately comfortable pushing it in and turning the unit on regardless.

Fecker heats up in no time at all. It's quite lovely.
