shouldn't be sticking ssd's up your ass, pal
That's about all it's good for until I fix the plug
@timsandtoms is it warrantied? Maybe the manufacturer will replace the SSD or recover your data, or both
Nah, it's old. But it's free if I can fix it, and 120GB is big enough to throw a couple of games on for fast load times.
Only free if your time is worthless, fren
...it's one connector
It takes like two minutes
And how long have you spent looking for the connector? Punk ass 😏
I mean... I mostly do it while staring at game loading screens. Which I'd eliminate with a faster drive.
It might be drive specific so good luck lmao
@Matthew yeah, because there's the drive controller and whatnot
Is the data important?
Nah, just my dad's Windows and WoW install
Have you considered burning it out clean and laying a new connection line?
I have not, wouldn't know how to.
Clean out the wrecked part with a knife or maybe a pointy solder iron depending on how much of a savage you are
Lay a new line with some silver cord or demanteled cable
And fry your pc in progress
Just scrap that drive
that the power side. just hard wire it
What's all the hype with YeeLights?
home automation
with stuff like IFTTT and such
also their price:performance ration is decent
and as far as i know they dont need to call home like shitty stuff competitors have (aka LAN-control)
(somebody correct me on that one if im wrong)
eh
you need to jump through a few hoops to get lan control
You gotta be real stupid to fry your Pc with a data port tbh.
@timsandtoms search for sata backplane
for some reason they use that a lot
Even with LAN control they phone home
yeah that's why i said some hoops to jump through
by what i mean the thing works even if you have the app firewalled
but yeah i dont own those so i cant say for sure
Yes that works.
But for some reason, if you have it turn on with a schedule (made with the yeelight app), it may fail to turn on if firewalled
So yeah you lose some functionality
Though if you have LAN control, you can just do all that with a cron
