anyone got a orangepi/bananapi NAS + torrentbox setup?
iirc orangepi has NAS expansionboard avaible to it as does other PIs too
so in theory somethign small as orange pi zero has those hats
that being said @bap orangepis as data-storage servers are low performance
you are better of even with something like refurb intel nuc
unless you need some super low budget but even a used old phone will probably perform better
i mean things like raspvi zero W make handy NAS setups as they take barely more than size of the HDD
aka "altoids tin nas"
speaking of which (they are on sale for 5 usd on microcenter for you americunts)
You mean its slow cause of USB2?
and yeah I dont want to put that much money into this
FYI, you can now post `s.click` links from mobile even if there's the danger that they might be ref links. The bot will delete them automatically and replace them with good links
good piggy bot
(this will fail if you post a wall of text of >900 chars with your message, because of embed limitations)
its getting new superpowers by the day
1GB RAM + GbEthernet
3x USB 2.0 connected to CPU (not shared like rpi)
if you want usb 3.0 get the new opi 3 https://www.cnx-software.com/2019/01/19/orange-pi-3-allwinner-h6-sbc/
get a JMS578 based USB->sata adapter
I have the original orange pi PC as a NAS and just bought the PC2 to upgrade to GbE
original works fine if you can stand 100mbit
>Allwinner
the h3 and h5 work fine
for a NAS
nanopi make a nas dock kit but it's expensive https://www.friendlyarm.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=222
+ nanopi neo 2
+ $20 shipping
the hw video encoder in the h5 isn't supported yet but should be in next kernel release
Mine was dropping cores because of it
the nanopi?
opi pc
the smaller boards get hotter
are you running armbian?
the stock OS overvolts the CPU IIRC
you need armbian
