But even then, the whole bulkiness of the AVS and it's harness is unnecessary in most cases
idk i would not buy an AVS except if it were for some kind of clone correct larp meme
i agree that it's not necessary for the vast majority of users
I'd even argue that it's unnecessary for basically everyone
i mean possibly
i don't carry retarded heavy loads on mine so idk how much comfort it really adds
The area and bulk that the AVS harness adds would be better off being soft armor 🤷🏿
AERO niggas can't die so...
i mean soft armor is still heavier and there is a big area of overlap between the harness and the platebag
Eh
anyways idk i wouldn't buy a AVS
But that's your opinion which doesn't validate or invalidate it's legitimacy as a "good carrier" in 2019
true
Like functionally, Crye doesn't make a "medium" carrier
wym medium
like a 6094?
Yeah kinda
Like an AERO, Strandhogg, etc
JPC being a "light" carrier
true but you can easily turn a JPC into something like that
fair enough
can you add crye padding to the JPC 🤔
I would say the AVS is still marginally more comfortable than my 6094
@Einhänder what do you think about the AVS since you asked
Yeah the AVS is definitely comfortable but the harness isn't that big of a game changer and arguably unnecessary vs side padding from the micro harness or just normal padding like the aero
🤷🏿
I'm skeptical as to how well the Harness actually performs in terms of load-bearing. Sure there probably an engineering argument/evidence can be made about weight destribution, but you're still adding more weight onto the individual.
Combined with other accessories such as the stkss, I haven't been really able to find good enough metrics besides anecdotal evidence as to if the harness justifies a loaded AVS being almost 2x the price of a Strandhogg. Hence that's why I'm asking around.
I do think AXL adding tubes and a velcro flaps does help the AVS & Strandhogg modernize for a lot of rigs/accessories, so there's that.
@Einhänder to the average nerd, the AVS is overkill
Yeah I agree
Its probably pretty good completely loaded down and you're in it for months on end
Thats where you notice where the harness changes things
Where you save a few pounds from lighter plates, you're throwing on an extra radio, ammo, or batteries
I mean nobody really over loads them
Yeah, but its there if you need to
I guess but that again goes back to my point of the harness being unnecessary becauae the benefits are lost on most, if not all, users
Yeah, that is a good point.
12-16 mag setups isn't that crazy and people already do them with other setups
ehhh it's pretty wack
Most medium or large carriers accommodate for it 🤷
you definitely notice the extra weight when you carry 2x of a standard combat load
