Hitler ruined it
In their histery Europeans got rid of any kind of swastikas, aside from Finns maybe bcuz they're Mongols.
But West and East Asian states had no problem with that.

I don't know where calling it swastika came from, it isn't even its European name.
I guess it was later with demonisation of Hitler and banning it.
The common misconception is that "Hitler stole it from the Hindus and blackmailed it", but it was a traditional Germanic symbol he used like the runes and it was used by every human civilisation in history.
Russian Fascist Party used it in the same shape as Hitler even.
