Hello. I know nothing about left/right sides since I was never interested in politics. But since I turned 18 recently, and will be voting next election, I've decided I should try and learn a bit. Can someone explain to me what the left is all about?

Well, if you aren't kidding, it depends really. Not all leftists obviously believe the same thing, and it also depends on your country. I am a Social Democrat in America for instance. I believe in reviving the disappearing union, expanded welfare(universal healthcare, tuition free public college, etc.) I'd like to put an end to American interventionism, and to lower the military budget. As far as social issues go, I am very socially libertarian. Let someone do what they damn please if it doesn't harm others, it's the basis of my social beliefs and many others.
