I've noticed a lot of guys coming back, outside of being disenfranchised by society, dont have the comeradery and mission. Civie life is different. Provide for him that ride or die comeradery. That caring. dont be too touchy feely man. But be there for him.

2020-01-10 04:02:17 UTC

@Hellhound6 beat me to it

2020-01-10 04:02:30 UTC

Be smol ghey

2020-01-10 04:02:39 UTC

You gotta care for your homies

2020-01-10 04:02:55 UTC

Honestly readjusting is a big step and a hard one.

2020-01-10 04:03:01 UTC

He and I are already really good friends, but I had just never seen this side of him so I almost thought he was faking at first. So did my other friend

2020-01-10 04:03:46 UTC

Like it seemed so out of the blue like drunk him was pulling a prank... we definitely didn't treat it like that but thats what it seemed like until it boiled over

2020-01-10 04:04:12 UTC

Here I'll send you what I said to him over messenger about an hour ago, can you honestly tell me if I said the right shit?

2020-01-10 04:04:22 UTC

@Fe4r_incarnate just be there for him. Make sure he knows he isn't alone. Guide him towards help, but he's the only one that can actually fix it

2020-01-10 04:04:48 UTC

@Fe4r_incarnate have a cigerette, pray if you pray, shoot him a text saying you'll see him tomorrow, and hit him up tomorrow. Let him know what he said concerned you. Tell him you got his back.

But that's the best you can do.

2020-01-10 04:05:13 UTC

Also dude my break down happened 3 bottles of whiskey in at a friend's birthday. So it be like that

2020-01-10 04:05:15 UTC

Dude i'm sorry I didn't realize the conversation had shifted to something serious I thought we were all still joking, I didn't mean to upset you I love you dude and I'm thankful for you, and I'm glad you're in my life, I didn't realize I had crossed a line or anything until it was too late dude. I feel awful, I'm sorry.

(Replaced his name with dude, he deserves to be anon)

2020-01-10 04:06:49 UTC

I've had two friends opt out mate. Even with good support networks, sometimes it isnt good enough. Society is breaking men. Best we can do is remind kings what they are. Build the community around us that supports one another and out needs as men.

@Hellhound6 takes me a quart of jaeger lol

2020-01-10 04:06:49 UTC

Was that too pushy

2020-01-10 04:07:29 UTC

@Fe4r_incarnate you saw a strong man have a break down. I wouldn't blame you for sending that.

2020-01-10 04:07:43 UTC

@Fe4r_incarnate again, just talk to him tomorrow

2020-01-10 04:08:07 UTC

This guy is one of my best friends. We've been bois for a while. I just have never seen that side of him and it hurts me. I hope he isn't depressed

2020-01-10 04:08:17 UTC

Hears the thing, because you cry n shit doesnt make him weak. If he lets it control him, that's the thing

2020-01-10 04:08:34 UTC

Remind him that he's strong

2020-01-10 04:08:53 UTC

@mcguyver123 also, agreed

2020-01-10 04:08:56 UTC

Now or once he is sober

2020-01-10 04:09:05 UTC

Sober

2020-01-10 04:09:20 UTC

Let it cool down a little first

2020-01-10 04:09:22 UTC
2020-01-10 04:09:44 UTC

Also @Fe4r_incarnate you didn't do anything wrong. You dont have to apologize. Just be there for your bro

2020-01-10 04:09:59 UTC
2020-01-10 04:10:10 UTC

But what if I did? What if by not taking him seriously right away I genuinely hurt him?

2020-01-10 04:10:29 UTC

Nah dude

2020-01-10 04:10:38 UTC

Trust me, you'd know

2020-01-10 04:10:57 UTC

Nah man, just acknowledge that you didnt at first. But if he needs you, he can come to you to help deal with it. Straight talk, no bullshit

2020-01-10 04:12:37 UTC

Also, his dad telling me to just talk to him tomorrow kinda makes me think this has happened before, but behind closed doors. I just can't help but feel responsible. We shouldn't have been talking about the military at all.

2020-01-10 04:12:50 UTC

Nah

2020-01-10 04:13:07 UTC

If you avoid it. It can be just as bad

2020-01-10 04:13:26 UTC

@Fe4r_incarnate dude if he was talking it's fine. He was talkin. If he didnt wanna talk hed have said so.

2020-01-10 04:13:31 UTC

@Hellhound6 that too

2020-01-10 04:13:57 UTC

It's one of those things where as long as you're there when they open up

2020-01-10 04:14:19 UTC

Don't coddle him, but listen

2020-01-10 04:15:32 UTC

Its a balance, but you'll get it. And it does seem like you show genuine concern for him. He's lucky to have you on his side

2020-01-10 04:15:43 UTC

Agreed

2020-01-10 04:16:15 UTC

Directly confronting him about what happend and just tryna be there for him.

2020-01-10 04:18:00 UTC

I only came here because I know its a chat he isn't in, I don't want him to know I talked about it but I just genuinely have no idea how to handle this. His dad seemed to completely understand my other friend and I, but his step mom seemed mad at us... she was also a little drunk... its just weird. Never experienced that before... my brother has ptsd from his 2 tours in iraq but its a lot different for him. Its less emotional, more just brain damage. Like he forgets shit all the time and stuff. I have never seen one of my close friends break down like this.
