ah, a mirelurk
this is unironically what the pre-mutation basic mirelurk is
I have 0 repulsion or disgust towards them
They are kinda cute
I like the mirelurk designs in 4 more than in 3 ngl
the main difference is their shell is a lot bigger and overall have a profile that resembles the creature it once was but if you blow their shells off they actually kinda resemble the crab men in 3 they was
I am quite fond of this critters too
They didn't change much for millions of years
mirelurk hunters are giant crayfish
And their blood is green due to being copper-based
not even sure what mirelurk kings are
also far harbor introduces like mirelurk hermit crabs that live in the shells of vans
horseshoe crabs are strange yeah
I guess if it works they dont change
Their blood is used to make medicine to clot our blood
good for stopping bleeding
It is also a disinfectant in addition to being an amazing clotting agent
The yellow stuff on those blood-stopping sponges? Horseshoe crab blood
They are not killed in the process though. Just harvested blood, nursed and then released back

the green stuff in the health vials in hl2 is the gunk that comes out of antlion grubs when you squish them btw
