there are left-christians and right-christians

2019-08-15 23:03:14 UTC

both on the opposite side of the political spectrum but still of the same religion

2019-08-15 23:04:44 UTC

"there are no studies on specific religion that i know of"

so you admit that you're grasping at straws and you don't have an argument

2019-08-15 23:04:45 UTC

ok then

2019-08-15 23:07:00 UTC

regardless
we can see that race and beliefs are tied which was more of my main point

2019-08-15 23:08:17 UTC

yes im sure that there are such a high number of abortion supporting catholics and muslims running around

2019-08-15 23:08:42 UTC

race and belief are linked?

2019-08-15 23:09:10 UTC

beliefs are heritable
races exist

2019-08-15 23:12:39 UTC

its not unreasonable to assume that since many other beliefs are heritable that others can or will also be heritable

2019-08-15 23:14:38 UTC

can you give an example of a heritable belief?

2019-08-15 23:16:03 UTC

read the above studies on heritability of political beliefs

2019-08-15 23:17:04 UTC

but here is a list of psychometric traits that are heritable and can predict beliefs from bouchard

"we can see that race and beliefs are tied which was more of my main point"
No, your "main point" was specifically the co-relation between race and religion, you stated as much.

2019-08-15 23:19:01 UTC

Anyone can scroll up and see it.

2019-08-15 23:19:22 UTC

Just admit you were wrong and carry on. There's no need to pretend as if you were arguing something else all along.

2019-08-15 23:23:33 UTC

races exist
beliefs are heritable
psychometric traits are heritable
psychometric traits predict beliefs
it is not unreasonable to assume heritability of religious beliefs since we can see significant heritability's in other types of beliefs especially when there is overlap
this is my point

2019-08-15 23:24:27 UTC
2019-08-15 23:25:36 UTC

Except there is not overlap because as I've previously pointed out people of the same religion often times have wildly varying political beliefs.

2019-08-15 23:25:43 UTC

Just a kid who can't take an L frankly.

2019-08-15 23:25:48 UTC

Your argument holds no water.

2019-08-15 23:26:15 UTC

are you saying that catholics do not tend to be opposed to abortion?

2019-08-15 23:26:40 UTC

i dont care about the one muslim whos a feminist

2019-08-15 23:27:09 UTC

or the little group of catholics in favor of abortion

2019-08-15 23:27:23 UTC

there is definitely overlap

2019-08-15 23:29:09 UTC
2019-08-15 23:31:15 UTC

that's making a false assumption that they're opposed to abortion because of their religion

2019-08-15 23:32:04 UTC

Your argument would hold water if

a. people of the same religion held the same political opinions the vast majority of the time on a wide array of topics

and

b. both religion and politics were material concepts

2019-08-15 23:32:10 UTC

But you don't meet either of those

2019-08-15 23:33:17 UTC

we're gonna have to agree to disagree

2019-08-16 00:14:12 UTC

wait, you think religion doesn't affect someone's worldview? @Deleted User

2019-08-16 00:15:50 UTC

"variation within religious groups exist, therefore the religion has no influence"

2019-08-16 00:20:15 UTC

That's a strawman, I did not say that

2019-08-16 00:20:34 UTC

That may not be your position, but go back and read what you said, it sounds like that's what you were getting at

2019-08-16 00:21:11 UTC

I know what I said and it's not what I was getting at.

2019-08-16 00:21:27 UTC

Well maybe it wasn't but your wording made it sound like it

2019-08-16 00:21:41 UTC

To you

2019-08-16 00:21:48 UTC

ok
