Filip Rekhmukov, Karelo-Finnish Pavillion, VDNKH, 1954
A stunnning combination of Neoclassical Style and wood carvings.
karelia may not be european
but they sure seem like they are
This is less their traditional style and more of a grandiose style well-liked during the Soviet era.
Although it is a fairly unique type of building, since the Khruschev era saw a decline of grandiose neoclassical buildings.
S. Polupanov, Uzbekistan SSR Pavillion, VDNKH Moscow, 1954
I quite enjoy the combination of Stalin Empire style and the national architectural styles in these pavillions
“stalin empire” kek
More of a Russian word, not used in the West, but it is still an academic term.

@urban Images of saints go into <#507037021827497984>
This is actually wrong
Images of saints are considered art and don't fit the <#507037021827497984> idea
This is actually correct.
There is no way this isn't true.
Just as there is no way Dick Cheney isn't a saint.
Mods with double chromosomes aside, here is some actual art.

Ever notice how Mosques look just like Orthodox Cathedrals sans icons and images?
Almost like the Muzzies stole all their architecture from the Byzantines or something
Because thats what they did
"Waah waah, cultural appropriation!"
