@Cheepskipper I don't view humans as logical agents
We're animals, and thus we are driven by animal instincts
People believe all kinds of things without evidence. It is cute to think that we can have a completely consistent rational view of the universe that explains everything but that's silly. We're animals flailing about, fumbling with our convoluted thinking, desperately seeking survival
@snakeeater I know. That’s maybe why I love science so much. The scientific ways are made so that we won’t fall in the trap of our flawed human brains illusions. Humans feel the need to know how things work. When we don’t know, we usally find a explanation that isn’t true. Example: Thor with lightning. But by using scientific methods, we have found out that this isn’t true. Like you said, we humans are just flawed animals as we have evolved from a common ancestor like all the other animals and plants.
@Cheepskipper you're missing my point. Logic is overrated

@snakeeater How is logic overrated? Can you explain in more detail what you are trying to say?
My own expansion on the topic would be that empirical deduction is limited to factual claims and does not infringe on the realm of motivation.... to the contrary... motivation often infringes on the empirical deduction resulting in biased perception of empirical claims.
@Cheepskipper sure, why do you value logic?
Saying the scientific method leads us to the truth is circular-why does the truth matter?
Humans value the truth, but we also value emotions, religion, and all kinds of other things
As they say you can't derive an is from an ought. Even if the truth exists, why should we care?
From an ooga booga perspective, truth matters because it aids you in assessing opportunities and dangers easier.
You can run from "fake" tigers, but it won't help you in surviving a real one.
Tou can delude yourself into thinking honey is poisonous, but then you will have less viable food sources.
Truth, without being a preening pseudointellectual about it, is essential to our prosperity as a species.

so uh
hows everyone doing
Bretty good
Decent/10
@snakeeater Yes, humans do value other things than what science tells us. We aren’t emotionless machines. But nothing has gotten us as far so fast like scientific research. We have medicines and technology that has improved our everyday life. Everything you can see around you made by humans, are made with our knowledge of how the universe work. Somethings more than other things.
I’m a little confused when you are talking about the truth. Do you mean there is one big truth? I don’t think there is a absolute truth as everything is relative.
that took awhile
"no absolute truth"
Do you believe that gravity is relative?
Truth is at the center of all things
The planet is accelerating upwards, there is no such thing as gravity
how do ball fall then
The planet reaches it
plox explain
the centrist question
Well we could get autistic and say that the law of gravity could be coherent with that model. its just the speed of an object
th earth is neither round
nor flat
nor hollow
its a turtle
