@greg-ky VA is not CA or DC. The police cannot under pretty much any circumstances prevent you from carrying anything that is not explictly illegal by state law. You can open carry a sword if you want, as long as you do not brandish it. Nathan doesn't understand how the law works here, which is why he said that.
Thats very bad advice
Stop giving bad legal advice unless you're a lawyer
You literally cut out the part for how it's about wearing respirators and masks in the process of working a job
"engaged in professions, trades, employment or other activities and wearing protective masks which are deemed necessary for the physical safety of the wearer"
"or other activities and wearing protective masks which are deemed necessary for the physical safety of the wearer" means the law covers it. if antifa or cops are slinging pepper spray is that not deemed necessary for your physical safety?
Are you a lawyer?
no its called reading comprehension
"It shall be unlawful for any person over 16 years of age to, with the intent to conceal his identity," this part also nullifies wearing a respirator and sunglasses being a crime since your intent is for personal protection from chemical agents and not to conceal your identity
Is this also the section where we give bad lifting advice?
Intent seems to be a key word there
And what is the definition of "other activities"?
I do know a Virginia lawyer... I'll inquire
@Melektaus that is horrible advice. If you wear any kind of face covering material (except sunglasses) you will be arrested and charged with a felony
Most riot police will not stop to hear your "comprehension" of the law as they arrest you
@SaintCharles Its best to let people do as they wish, if they don't follow laws , thats on them. I've tried helping but people insist to resist the advice
I'm clear on the VA provisions for open carry from the above. Thank you!
That said, do we anticipate any part of the public event(s) taking place in one of the numerous localities/settings to which specific prohibitions apply? Do we have men who plan to open carry?
I'm seriously contemplating a full-size pistol in a drop-leg platform.
@PureDureSure no place we will be will prohibit carry. However open carry is highly frowned upon
conceal it.
Thank you, @Kurt . I may have to forego carrying a gun, then. I don't have an active CWP of any description/jurisdiction.
so get one.
I'm going to try, but doubt they'll turn the application around in less than two weeks' time (they claim a 90-day potential maximum).
depends on the state
Depends on the county
Not that they would ever have reason to so much as know where we're lodging, but on the 0.1% chance they were to take some interest in it, would VA law look with disdain on the presence of some hardware in the house in which we're bedding down?
VA is a fire arm friendly state... hell it is an open carry state
I got mine back in a week so I would try and see what happens
I dunno it doesn't take a $200/hr lawyer to read and understand one sentence but that's just me. I doubt anyone will be tackled to the ground and cuffed because you pulled out and donned a respirator if antifa started spewing pepper spray.
It all depends on the state and the town, in RI it can take from 2 weeks for some of the town permits to over 6mo for CCW from the attorney general then states like NJ or NY can take years
Take it for what it's worth, but LEO's arrested a bunch of Antifa for masking up after tear gas was deployed.
At the Klan rally recently.
"We tried to gas you but you tried to protect yourself from it now you're under arrest"
Law and law enforcement doesn't always make sense, but it is what it is.
@Melektaus @Johnny O'Malley they arrested a man dressed up in joker face paint and charged him with a felony
They're going to remember who wears any kind of mask and will arrest you the first chance they get.
I concede. I forget police aren't on our side. Yet.
