@Caz ikr

2019-11-04 22:41:29 UTC

It was Rome greatest period

2019-11-04 22:41:43 UTC

Five Good Emperors were peak Rome

2019-11-04 22:41:48 UTC

I'd say it ended with the mid 200s

2019-11-04 22:42:11 UTC

@IliasSpook five good emperors?

2019-11-04 22:42:36 UTC

Iirc it was the period also known as the pax romana

2019-11-04 22:44:29 UTC

Well I mean, all the Roman empire was, pax Romana is a term born from Augustus' propaganda proclaiming that with his victories he managed to bring peace not only to Rome but to all the population under the empire

2019-11-04 22:44:54 UTC

But what do you mean with "five good emperors"?

2019-11-04 22:44:56 UTC
2019-11-04 22:45:26 UTC

It's a term ascribed to the series of 5 emperors preceding Commodus

2019-11-04 22:45:32 UTC

Was Pax Romana truly peaceful

2019-11-04 22:45:39 UTC

Ah yes

2019-11-04 22:45:41 UTC

I legitimately wonder that myself

2019-11-04 22:45:54 UTC

Up to a limited point @OrthoNinten

2019-11-04 22:46:05 UTC

Very limited

2019-11-04 22:47:14 UTC

Was it more peaceful than say Pax Mongolica

2019-11-04 22:47:42 UTC

Traianus was an emperor who had conquests in mind, he did wage war often, and unlike common belief Marcus Aurelius made a lot of wars, even though defensive ones @OrthoNinten

2019-11-04 22:48:09 UTC

It's a term used for propaganda, not an historical fact tbh

2019-11-04 22:50:46 UTC

I remember talking about it some history classes

2019-11-04 22:51:00 UTC

It was never clear to me though how peaceful it was

2019-11-04 22:51:48 UTC

Honestly mostly it wasn't, it's more associated with the peak years of a great civilization if you ask me

2019-11-04 22:52:32 UTC

Some years were peaceful but only from a specific point of view, wars were continously made in the ancient world

2019-11-04 23:20:49 UTC

@The Man Himself greetings fellow legionary

2019-11-04 23:35:30 UTC

@Mankn II if the emperor made me procurator Augusti we can be co-workers. procurator Augusti was the chief financial officer of a province  during the  Principate (30 BC – AD 284). A fiscal procurator worked alongside the legatus Augusti pro praetore  (imperial governor) of his province but was not subordinate to him, reporting directly to the emperor.
