I'm a tubby hubby 😘

2019-11-22 05:18:44 UTC

im talking to matthew

2019-11-22 05:18:55 UTC

it's not like he's gonna need to know how much he lost or gained

2019-11-22 05:18:58 UTC

so what's the point

2019-11-22 05:21:13 UTC

I'll lose 1 lb for every good post you've made here.

2019-11-22 05:23:01 UTC

18 lbs? So basically 260

2019-11-22 05:26:31 UTC

Being as fat as I am is, *work*. I don't have to exercise to lose weight. I have to eat to maintain it. I won't let you down. Daddy.

2019-11-22 05:26:55 UTC

260, by April. Gotcha.

2019-11-22 05:27:36 UTC

Losing half my ass would be more than the agreed on 18 lbs.

2019-11-22 05:43:12 UTC

>being overweight in the first place

2019-11-22 05:44:00 UTC

25 % is borderline overweight, and considering how sedentary most of you are, it's not okay

2019-11-22 05:44:25 UTC

the fuck am I saying

2019-11-22 05:44:29 UTC

BMI, not bf%

2019-11-22 05:44:48 UTC

25 % bf is the border too?

2019-11-22 05:44:51 UTC

funny, that.

2019-11-22 05:45:31 UTC

maybe by design?

2019-11-22 05:45:37 UTC

just speculation

2019-11-22 05:45:57 UTC

there is absolutely no harm in being in the "athletic" zones or dead center of normal BMI, assuming you have a good FFMI.

2019-11-22 05:46:20 UTC

your a round number

2019-11-22 05:47:33 UTC

Well, I'm thinking it's a bit like with kelvin v celcius

2019-11-22 05:48:06 UTC

it's an index, so you could have it be negative, right? theoretically

2019-11-22 05:52:37 UTC

You could just shift the scale for BMI.

2019-11-22 05:53:21 UTC

I guess it's unneccessary to adjust.

2019-11-22 05:56:29 UTC

maybe fiddle with the model a bit kg/height^3 or something

2019-11-22 05:58:25 UTC

celcius is based around the idea that we like round numbers for the two (for average humans) most important numbers - the boiling point of water, and the freezing point of water.

The scale for BMI could be argued to be improved if the zero point was the center of what is considered "healthy". It could even be divided by some factor so that a value above 1 indicates overweight, though that requires more consideration.

2019-11-22 05:59:05 UTC

But I don't care and neither should you. Just an idea about a measure that isn't that useful to begin with.

2019-11-22 06:06:28 UTC

Is it just the dash/minus situation that confuses people about negative numbers?

2019-11-22 06:09:05 UTC

there are big number and small number, now if u throw in negative number its just gonna make it complicated

2019-11-22 06:18:54 UTC

And I think a lot of medical professionals like the fact that BMI is well studied, but the studies will also tell you it's not a great measure for individuals.

2019-11-22 06:19:22 UTC

I really appreciate the perspectives!

2019-11-22 06:21:39 UTC

it's so funny, that, that the best way of figuring out if someone is healthy or not is to ask them to grade how healthy they feel from 0-10

2019-11-22 06:22:15 UTC

"best", but yeah

2019-11-22 06:23:09 UTC

The idea being that if someone is ill, they can usually tell a lot better than a doctor asking questions

2019-11-22 06:24:52 UTC

Chinkmas magic, all those cold goodless people

2019-11-22 06:29:06 UTC

It's not meant to diagnose, but it's a strong predictor for getting a diagnosis of ill health.

2019-11-22 06:29:44 UTC

You're unlikely to say you're sick because you are a tiny bit hungover from having a beer last night.

2019-11-22 06:34:17 UTC

It becomes a lot more clear when you ask it as an assessment from 0-10. A "fine" may simply mean "the usual, I'm not feeling good but this pain in my gut isn't unusually bad".

2019-11-22 06:34:33 UTC

Anyway, that's the idea.
