Depends on your point of view.

2019-10-24 22:46:53 UTC

I see positive as in rights

2019-10-24 22:47:02 UTC

However not extreme

2019-10-24 22:47:56 UTC

Social mobility is good

2019-10-24 22:48:05 UTC

But not if it sacrifices basic rights.

2019-10-24 22:49:07 UTC

It's the auth vs lib argument essentially

2019-10-24 22:49:12 UTC

Negative freedom (or negative liberty) consists of freedom from something whereas positive freedom (or positive liberty) consists of the ability to do something.

2019-10-24 22:49:35 UTC

Your social mobility would be considered positive freedom

2019-10-24 22:49:42 UTC

They intersect a bit

2019-10-24 22:50:11 UTC

I have the ability to speak because I am free from prosecution due to it.

2019-10-24 22:50:32 UTC

One enables the other in some cases

2019-10-24 22:50:46 UTC

Mhm

2019-10-24 22:51:35 UTC

However things like "I have the ability to be a worker because I am not free to do anything else" such as seen in some places in history is lacking basically both.

2019-10-24 22:52:15 UTC

It truth true freedom gives you a helping of both types but not too much of one.

2019-10-24 23:35:02 UTC

How on earth can you consider social mobility a positive right? I mean if you have a caste system and have to remain at whatever class you are born *that* would be a positive right. Simply allowing people to achieve whatever they can in life is still a negative right. I suppose if social mobility were determined by government grants you could call it a positive right but you would also call it a dystopian nightmare........

"I suppose if social mobility were determined by government grants you could call it a positive right but you would also call it a dystopian nightmare........"

2019-10-24 23:38:44 UTC

I would argue that is what Britain is, hence said what I said

2019-10-24 23:39:55 UTC

Oh so you're saying that you guys do social mobility wrong?

2019-10-24 23:43:05 UTC

When it encourages foreigners to swarm here en mass? Yeah.

2019-10-24 23:57:35 UTC

Wait how does that relate to social status???

2019-10-25 04:04:11 UTC

Any pro brexit peeps here

2019-10-25 05:19:30 UTC

I fucking wonder Austin

<:dogekek:602103206528417795>

2019-10-25 05:19:44 UTC

Also

2019-10-25 05:19:53 UTC

Did you hear about the delay of the delay

2019-10-25 05:29:19 UTC

According to the guardian no less

2019-10-25 05:30:53 UTC

"Senior sources" have said that johnson threat to pull the deal if Corbyn doesn't agree to an election will delay their decision until Monday or Tuesday.

2019-10-25 05:31:02 UTC

The delayed delay

2019-10-25 06:05:02 UTC

<:pepelaugh:544857300179877898>

2019-10-25 06:05:05 UTC

Amazing.

2019-10-25 06:55:31 UTC

God imagine if it comes down to "GE or no deal"

2019-10-25 06:55:43 UTC

You could physically see Corbyn's brain implode from orbit.

2019-10-25 07:22:33 UTC

Why ask if there are pro-brexit peeps here in a pro-brexit server, at 5am?

2019-10-25 07:22:34 UTC

lol

2019-10-25 07:27:40 UTC

Corbyn: Stop no deal or no election.
Johnson: Give election or no deal.

2019-10-25 07:28:28 UTC

Thats not what Corbyn is saying

2019-10-25 07:28:48 UTC

Or rather, that's what he's 'saying', but it's not what he actually means

2019-10-25 07:28:58 UTC

He said he would only agree to an election if no deal was off the table?

2019-10-25 07:29:19 UTC

What they really want is for Brexit to be off the table before giving an election

2019-10-25 07:29:59 UTC

Yeah, thats their only chance of not getting buttraped

2019-10-25 07:30:37 UTC

It's why them and the Limp Dems and the SNP keep moving the goalposts
