I am in heavy industry. We build capital goods. I have been doing this for more than a decade.

So low risk in that regard, and no kids since you didn't mention it, so another low risk

So at least I wouldn't *not* recommend putting yourself out there, after all you don't have much to risk.

It's not that uncommon. Look I can give you an example. I got celled here for posting a meme that was considered 'NSFW'. My *boss* thought it was funny and likely the *owner of the company* would have laughed at it. Because outside of academia very few people consider these things to be serious offenses. We are too busy making things that work.

Peterson and Harris have existential fears because their careers are based in membership in a culture that is censorious. I don't. Most people don't. Most people live in a world where **nobody** reads the NY Times.

So those who do "challenge" him tend to agree with him

Echo chambers happen because it's economically sound to build them, and therefore also emotionally

If you're not in an echo chamber your risk goes up, but your reward does not go up proportionally

It's a stupid idea to be outside of an echo chamber unless you've built yourself a safety net

It is not a safety net. It is living in a world where they are not necessary.

If you're not in an echo chamber but you can criticize your peers, then you must be safe from them or else you couldn't voice your concerns

It would also mean no one else is listening in who can harm you
