That's precisely why Harris worked for so long before he finally opened his mouth about the riskiest topics

2019-10-24 00:26:25 UTC

And in fact, Peterson can still become homeless any day, he's not set for life at all, and he's not safe

2019-10-24 00:27:04 UTC

Or take someone like Count Dankula

2019-10-24 00:27:11 UTC

One video made him completely unemployable

2019-10-24 00:27:32 UTC

It wasn't even political speech, he made a joke

2019-10-24 00:27:51 UTC

One that actually mocks Nazis, and that was used to call him a Nazi

2019-10-24 00:28:40 UTC

These real life consequences speak very clearly, public appearances and voicing political views are high risk low reward ventures for most people

2019-10-24 00:42:53 UTC

I mean that is more of an issue if you *are* someone in the postgrad/100K club. Take like Bogossian. He's in trouble because his career is as an academic and academia is in that small club. I'm in heavy industry and XYZ mid-level industrial producer does not even *have* a PR department.

2019-10-24 00:43:55 UTC

It's an issue at every level

2019-10-24 00:44:35 UTC

Lindsay Shepherd is another example. She also has mouths to feed, if only her own, idk.

2019-10-24 00:45:20 UTC

It's an open secret that certain papers are advised not to be published so as to not harm one's own career chances.

2019-10-24 00:45:25 UTC

Lindsay's career *in academia*?

2019-10-24 00:45:39 UTC

Generally, not just in academia

2019-10-24 00:45:50 UTC

Employers don't want trouble, is this news for you?

2019-10-24 00:46:11 UTC

Imagine having to feed several mouths

2019-10-24 00:46:18 UTC

What risks are you willing to take?

2019-10-24 00:46:37 UTC

It's easy enough to test. Any one of these people could put out a casting call for people who are in the demographic.

2019-10-24 00:46:44 UTC

Oh please

2019-10-24 00:47:02 UTC

I'll take your words seriously when you walk the walk

2019-10-24 00:48:43 UTC

I'd go on any of those shows in a heartbeat.

2019-10-24 00:49:10 UTC

What's your current occupation?

2019-10-24 00:49:19 UTC

Do you have kids?

2019-10-24 00:49:26 UTC

Just so I know what your risk is

2019-10-24 00:51:10 UTC

I am in heavy industry. We build capital goods. I have been doing this for more than a decade.

2019-10-24 00:53:21 UTC

So low risk in that regard, and no kids since you didn't mention it, so another low risk

2019-10-24 00:54:08 UTC

So at least I wouldn't *not* recommend putting yourself out there, after all you don't have much to risk.
I'm only saying it's easy for you.

2019-10-24 00:55:04 UTC

Other people don't have that privilege of being lone wolves or having low financial risk

2019-10-24 00:57:44 UTC

It's not that uncommon. Look I can give you an example. I got celled here for posting a meme that was considered 'NSFW'. My *boss* thought it was funny and likely the *owner of the company* would have laughed at it. Because outside of academia very few people consider these things to be serious offenses. We are too busy making things that work.

2019-10-24 00:58:30 UTC

Celled here

2019-10-24 00:58:39 UTC

Is that your idea of serious consequences?

2019-10-24 00:59:03 UTC

Do you understand that people like Harris and Peterson have *existential fears* ?

2019-10-24 00:59:21 UTC

Posting rights or whatever on discord is child's play

2019-10-24 00:59:39 UTC

How do you even compare that, it's ridiculous

2019-10-24 01:00:13 UTC

Like playing with plastic swords in the backyard and calling it real war

2019-10-24 01:02:50 UTC

Peterson and Harris have existential fears because their careers are based in membership in a culture that is censorious. I don't. Most people don't. Most people live in a world where **nobody** reads the NY Times.

2019-10-24 01:03:19 UTC

That is precisely my point, how did you not get this

2019-10-24 01:03:29 UTC

I was talking about people losing opportunities in their own respective fields

2019-10-24 01:03:45 UTC

What do you have to lose compared to them, nothing

2019-10-24 01:04:06 UTC

And I was talking about the narrow feild of perspectives people like Harris are exposed to.

2019-10-24 01:04:35 UTC

I explained that the people who are actually capable of standing up to Harris have too much riding on it

2019-10-24 01:05:07 UTC

It makes no sense for them to challenge him, it's a net negative risk-reward scenario
