2019-07-19 04:34:05 UTC

@ratboygeinus Ω If they have a bias and still can't make an idea sound good I think it's a bad idea

2019-07-19 04:34:10 UTC

EXCEPT RELIGION CUZ REEEEEEEEE

2019-07-19 04:34:30 UTC

@Muten do you believe in utilitarianism?

2019-07-19 04:34:33 UTC
2019-07-19 04:34:37 UTC

No

2019-07-19 04:34:45 UTC

I think it's a good tool

2019-07-19 04:34:46 UTC

Actually can talk with kids about Pewdiepie .. (I'm a Sunday school teacher).

2019-07-19 04:34:49 UTC

I think

2019-07-19 04:34:58 UTC

it's a lens

2019-07-19 04:35:01 UTC

right?

2019-07-19 04:35:25 UTC

My mum literally did this when I said I wanted to read Mein Kampf so I can understand extremism better, the first thing she did was look up a psychologist who had analyzed and dissected the book so I could read that instead. I almost went like "bitch what?" 😄

2019-07-19 04:35:33 UTC

Okay let’s assume you do. Then one source may explain it well and another badly based on how they interpret it. You don’t actually engage with the whole ideas in themselves. You just get fragments

2019-07-19 04:35:36 UTC

No

2019-07-19 04:35:57 UTC

Utilitarianism is, very roughly, the idea that the ends of a moral system justify the means

2019-07-19 04:35:59 UTC

ETBROOD was like MGTOW bitch gimme that book

2019-07-19 04:36:13 UTC

Ok yeah

2019-07-19 04:36:17 UTC

Nah, gotta read the source to prevent radicalization.

2019-07-19 04:36:17 UTC

I can understand that

2019-07-19 04:36:29 UTC

I can skim pretty well

2019-07-19 04:36:45 UTC

But trying to read just gets me confused

2019-07-19 04:36:46 UTC

So is killing 10 people okay to save your wife?

2019-07-19 04:36:52 UTC

radicalization is the only way to get anything done tho. no one pays attention to mundane nuanced debate these days

2019-07-19 04:36:58 UTC

No I don't agree with utilitarianism

2019-07-19 04:37:11 UTC

I think it's a lens to use when making a desicion

2019-07-19 04:37:14 UTC

or something like that

2019-07-19 04:37:20 UTC

No.

2019-07-19 04:37:22 UTC

I fucking hate these terms

2019-07-19 04:37:28 UTC

It’s a way to think of moral philosophy

2019-07-19 04:37:29 UTC

They make everything confusing

2019-07-19 04:37:29 UTC

Gotta be able to looks at Mein Kampf and go, "Okay, see where you're at and coming from, Hitler... how the fuck did you get *there*, though!?"

2019-07-19 04:37:37 UTC

It IS a moral philosophy

2019-07-19 04:37:50 UTC

Yes but you can use it as a lens tho

2019-07-19 04:37:55 UTC

“radicalization is the only way to get anything done tho. no one pays attention to mundane nuanced debate these days”

2019-07-19 04:37:58 UTC

Not true

2019-07-19 04:38:00 UTC

@Laucivol exactly

2019-07-19 04:38:02 UTC

I still need to buy a copy.

2019-07-19 04:38:06 UTC

it is true whether you like it or not

2019-07-19 04:38:09 UTC

need to understand virtue as strength and sin as weakness to get how and why Utilitarianism could be called a moral philosophy
