just enough so it's a level playing field

2019-08-09 00:35:58 UTC

But a government sets the TOS for the sites.

2019-08-09 00:36:06 UTC

Or, some body does.

2019-08-09 00:36:15 UTC

More so to get the community involved and away from the TV instead of just politicians

2019-08-09 00:36:24 UTC

the actual sites themselves, are presumably the ones who set their own TOS

2019-08-09 00:36:34 UTC

Then just allow the tech giants to keep working as they do

2019-08-09 00:36:42 UTC

Level em out

2019-08-09 00:36:45 UTC

Except the government enforces them to have reasonable TOS

2019-08-09 00:36:48 UTC

Issue is

2019-08-09 00:36:53 UTC

You don't want to kill the innovation

2019-08-09 00:36:59 UTC

And the political power that they provide

2019-08-09 00:37:03 UTC

Say you could become mayor by winning one of these competitions

2019-08-09 00:37:14 UTC

Limiting how Twatter bans people would kill innovation?

2019-08-09 00:37:18 UTC

how does THAT work?

2019-08-09 00:37:19 UTC

It might encourage kids to learn more

2019-08-09 00:37:32 UTC

No no, I mean like distributing their assets kinda thing

2019-08-09 00:37:36 UTC

We don't want to kill them

2019-08-09 00:37:45 UTC

We want them to keep working and keep innovating

2019-08-09 00:37:49 UTC

Well obviously it'd kill innovation for getting around the bans

2019-08-09 00:37:50 UTC

Yeah, I definitively don't.

2019-08-09 00:37:53 UTC

We just.. Want them to have a policy change

2019-08-09 00:37:56 UTC

Twatter isn't hiding a terrorist or anything

2019-08-09 00:37:58 UTC

(AFAIK)

2019-08-09 00:38:00 UTC

I think human history has been a good enough competition of ideas that has led to the best systems of government that we have come up with. Perhaps public distrust in the system is evident that there is something wrong with the system but we don't have a better way of finding an alternative until someone goes ahead and finds an alternative

2019-08-09 00:38:07 UTC

Why destroy the house, when you can change the occupants?

2019-08-09 00:38:08 UTC

Kinda thing.

2019-08-09 00:38:16 UTC

I mean if you don't have censorship, how do you innovate around censorship @SPOOKY Phil, Ruler of Heck

2019-08-09 00:38:25 UTC

Or, regulate the occupants to do what you want.

2019-08-09 00:38:33 UTC

>increase the amount of people in the house by distributing the price of rent evenly @Weez

2019-08-09 00:38:46 UTC

2019-08-09 00:39:16 UTC

Won’t twitter inevitably die off naturally once it has expunged itself of any kind of normal person leaving screeching radical regressives and journalists alone on the site?

2019-08-09 00:39:31 UTC

Probably not

2019-08-09 00:39:32 UTC

Depends, do you consider tumblr dead?

2019-08-09 00:39:34 UTC

Twitter will stay around

2019-08-09 00:39:43 UTC

As long as Tim "Antifa are bad" Pool likes to say

2019-08-09 00:39:44 UTC

Why would you want to operate on a platform defined and dominated by absolute cancer?

2019-08-09 00:39:51 UTC

I mean myspace is still around but I haven't heard of it in a while

2019-08-09 00:39:51 UTC

@Weez if Twatter expunges itself of all normies, that will just help facebook a LOT

2019-08-09 00:39:51 UTC

Because it has people on there.

2019-08-09 00:40:00 UTC

It gets you coverage

2019-08-09 00:40:01 UTC

Myspace is still around, right? @Weez
