What's stopping you from creating a Facebook account with the sole purpose of pushing people to other websites? @stathelle

2019-09-01 00:53:37 UTC

Nothing.

2019-09-01 00:53:43 UTC

It's being done already.

2019-09-01 00:53:46 UTC

@ManAnimal They must be enforced or you start going down the slippery slope of not enforcing your laws, which erodes the entirety of your legal code.

2019-09-01 00:53:58 UTC

So you either find a happy medium, in which you adjust them properly.

2019-09-01 00:54:02 UTC

OR YOU FUCKING ENFORCE THE LAWS.

2019-09-01 00:54:25 UTC

i agree 100%; but that happens when they write conflicting laws that realistically cannot be enforece uniformly

2019-09-01 00:54:39 UTC

Then those laws must be reformed.

2019-09-01 00:54:42 UTC

^^

2019-09-01 00:54:43 UTC

Yep, nothing, however that takes a lot of effort and power. Power and effort that the big media and tech have. They have the resources to keep people on there, and unless you have a lot more moderates who see the need to switch, the vast majority of Americans won't switch over.

2019-09-01 00:54:49 UTC

exactly

2019-09-01 00:54:56 UTC

basically... section 230 needs to be reexamined.. on how it shuld be enforced and so on

2019-09-01 00:55:03 UTC

Then offer a better product. @stathelle

2019-09-01 00:55:24 UTC

The product you're offering doesn't seem that good if consumers don't want to use it.

2019-09-01 00:55:32 UTC

Maybe you should try revisiting it..

2019-09-01 00:55:35 UTC

And get a better product.

2019-09-01 00:55:38 UTC

my original point is that if you allow the gov the ability to decide when they can tell private companies who and what they can list, in order to enforce the gov would have to examine EVERYOINE's machine at the slightest accusation

2019-09-01 00:55:40 UTC

Maybe then people will use it.

2019-09-01 00:55:55 UTC

that kind of power would be insane to give to the gov

2019-09-01 00:55:56 UTC

its not the gov enforcing what they can say

2019-09-01 00:56:04 UTC

its the gov saying they cant restrict what people say

2019-09-01 00:56:07 UTC

its very different

2019-09-01 00:56:07 UTC

@Weez consumers can be manipulated all the time as they are by the media. There is a reason we have snake oil laws

2019-09-01 00:56:17 UTC

@Weez A better product isn't the problem. Effective monopolisation over market shares, the weight of having all the money and the playing field not being fair to the smaller competitors are the problems.

2019-09-01 00:56:31 UTC

The consumer isn't forced to use Facebook, nor are they being manipulated into.

2019-09-01 00:56:33 UTC

Which is why every social media company should be broken up

2019-09-01 00:56:36 UTC

They're using it because it's a good product.

2019-09-01 00:56:37 UTC

@Weez Well, I'm just saying, the amount of damage that will be done before you can get many people to switch is a lot

2019-09-01 00:56:37 UTC

level the playing field

2019-09-01 00:56:58 UTC

so we can see as best as we can WHICH companies are best

2019-09-01 00:57:02 UTC

@SPOOKY Phil, Ruler of Heck but that's isn't a good idea either because the principle of social media requires that everyone be on there

2019-09-01 00:57:04 UTC

what you propose unscottty is the gov deciding who and what a company or person can host and if the restriction was fair or not. Even INVESTIGATIONG this would destroy any privacy people hard regarding their hardware

2019-09-01 00:57:11 UTC

@Zakhan Gab is still running, even with all that "power" and "money" even though the playing field isn't "far"

2019-09-01 00:57:15 UTC

And it's growing.

2019-09-01 00:57:25 UTC

@stathelle What damage?

2019-09-01 00:57:34 UTC

@ManAnimal no it wouldnt because its public

2019-09-01 00:57:34 UTC

The damage that you already see everywhere

2019-09-01 00:57:47 UTC

Ah you mean the product changing

2019-09-01 00:57:47 UTC

if public who pays for it?

2019-09-01 00:57:50 UTC

whats posted on these sites is publicly available

2019-09-01 00:57:51 UTC

You don't like that it's changed
