Because all it takes is throwing billions until it happens
Fish was such a big part of their diet
Because their farmland was so tiny
vertical farming can only be done at the rates people can traditionally farm
Automated
Fuckit
Japan's small towns are legit dying. Everyone's getting out.

can't automate vertical farming
Full ai supervision of everything
Farmbots
The big cities in Japan are overpopulated. The rest of the country has a population *shortage*.
ah, no; AI doesn't work like that
Maybe they should've considered building modern stuff
And moving industry into the county
Like the us does
Ye once you get Fusion powered vertical farming sites you probably can afford to automate then too
Fusion Power = Fairy Tale
Or Japan could just force the NEETS out of the big cities, and make them go be farmers.
@Arthur Grayborn that still means the entire land is overpopulated lol
It is physically impossible for Japan to farm for most of it's food
^
Japan implements 5 year plan
People who want to live in cities move there for employment
Oh so disappointed nobody jumped to defend fusion power
American farming techniques require about 1-2 acres per person, but that's not the only way to grow food. There are more expensive techniques that allow you to feed ten or more people per acre.
yes, but many actually like it
>Japan is mostly mountains
modern farm techniques can harvest 10 acres per day with one tractor
Employment and entertainment
not living there just for cash
There's few plains.
you can't come close to that with vertical farming
The only reason we don't use those more land-efficient farming techniques is because they're more expensive. Only reason.
American farming techniques are largely automated lol
it's only good on a user/user basis
Again, Japan doesn't have the space.
Ocean farms?
What idiot thing do you think of farmers
Mmmmm algae
