People who think they follow the Bible and Christ don’t actually follow either one.

2018-07-13 17:37:53 UTC

uh huh

2018-07-13 17:37:56 UTC

They follow their own understanding and their pride.

2018-07-13 17:38:45 UTC

Is their own understanding based on following their heart?

2018-07-13 17:39:05 UTC

It’s based on following Satan and thinking it’s God

2018-07-13 17:39:27 UTC

And Satan plants impulses in what, if not the heart?

2018-07-13 17:39:41 UTC

What’s your point?

2018-07-13 17:39:57 UTC

That the average person is not pure in heart, like I said. It sounds like you agree.

2018-07-13 17:40:19 UTC

Including most “Bible believing Christians”

2018-07-13 17:40:25 UTC

Right, agreed

2018-07-13 17:40:49 UTC

Not because they believe in the Bible or Christ but because being pure in heart is the level of completely righteous/saint

2018-07-13 17:41:12 UTC

Someone who is righteous but not completely righteous still has evil thoughts but recognizes them as such, and they don't hold any sway over him

2018-07-13 17:43:17 UTC

That sounds like an excuse to stay evil?

2018-07-13 17:44:13 UTC

The concept of sainthood is an excuse to stay evil? What do you mean?

2018-07-13 17:51:26 UTC

You just said completely righteous/saint, so obviously not. I’m talking about “Righteous but not completely righteous” geez. Are you actually open?

2018-07-13 17:51:45 UTC

@Hake do you follow the bible and Christ?

2018-07-13 17:53:39 UTC

No.

2018-07-13 17:55:36 UTC

Interesting

2018-07-13 17:57:10 UTC

I understand the bible...but to be a believer you must follow Christ, no?

2018-07-13 17:57:56 UTC

Yes, you must follow Christ.

2018-07-13 17:58:08 UTC

Ahh I see what you meant

2018-07-13 17:58:22 UTC

You don't have to follow both

2018-07-13 17:59:44 UTC

I don't like people that take the bible serious and quote scriptures all the time

2018-07-13 17:59:53 UTC

I honestly don’t know if we should have doctrine discussions if we’re not living it. Cultures already too intellectual and prideful and self deceived as it is.

2018-07-13 18:01:52 UTC

The Bible says to lean not on your own understanding yet that’s all I do, and all I see others doing.

2018-07-13 18:03:03 UTC

what does doctrine mean in the sense that is intended by this forum?

2018-07-13 18:04:15 UTC

are we talking about the new testament, or interpetations etc

2018-07-13 18:04:37 UTC

Whatevs I think. Tim will clarify if you go outside the lines.

2018-07-13 18:04:40 UTC

i shouldnt be commenting because i have not read the bible.

2018-07-13 18:04:46 UTC

Not true

2018-07-13 18:04:50 UTC

just felt like asking

2018-07-13 18:04:51 UTC

ok

2018-07-13 18:05:19 UTC

I haven't read the bible either

2018-07-13 18:05:50 UTC

I can't even explain why, but Jesse lit me up and I ended up at the Bhagavad Gita, and I never cared about it before.

2018-07-13 18:05:52 UTC

I haven't read the bible either

2018-07-13 18:05:58 UTC

You should feel free to comment bc you have a concept of what you believe.

2018-07-13 18:07:20 UTC

I ended up getting into these 2000 year old Indian epics, and finding all these signs that correlated to different events in my life. I have no explanation for why.

2018-07-13 18:08:14 UTC

What I am taking away from studying these exo-cultural scriptures is a sense of devotion and love for God

2018-07-13 18:10:05 UTC

It makes me cry at times, just from the beauty. as opposed to the other kind of emotion that's based on things like pity.

2018-07-13 18:11:03 UTC

@Hake, how does the concept of someone who is incompletely righteous in the sense that their heart still gives them impure thoughts, but they hold no sway over him, "an excuse to stay evil"?

2018-07-13 18:12:03 UTC

"lean not on your own understanding" means follow the tradition passed down with the Bible instead of your own imaginings. It's the same thing as "Go to the priests and judges that will be in your generation" or "Listen to the Pharisees for they sit in Moses' seat".
