Conservative Christian is a fairly new idea up until recently religion in politics was over denomination and there was no Christian identity as a political movement. Like Kennedy was considered scandalous because he was *Catholic*.

FWIW the paleos are wrong because they place culture downstream of politics. Which is also why the PoMos are wrong. The state cannot dictate civil society. And when you pass moralist laws you do not make moral people. You make something worse.
