politicians of the nation just need to learn to read the room

2019-10-09 20:43:14 UTC

the room being the general atmosphere of the populace

2019-10-09 22:38:07 UTC

Hilarious. They're acting as if they had nothing to do with it

@Tiberius "Do you guys not have phones?" is a famous quote from a Blizzard employee responding to mass dissillusionment at the fact that diablo Immortal was announced as a mobile game.

Venezuela is going to shut down power to 800,000 and fear of black plague is on the rise. Only in third world trash hea... Oh wait. This news is for California.

2019-10-09 22:42:42 UTC

Ahh I thought you were going to cite hearthstone as a worthwhile game

2019-10-09 22:42:52 UTC

I apologize for thinking so little of you

2019-10-09 22:43:38 UTC

2019-10-09 22:48:48 UTC

@Tiberius
Speaking of MTG, here's a video of a guy being a little too happy about pulling a card lmfao

2019-10-09 22:49:19 UTC

funniest shit of my life

2019-10-09 22:49:43 UTC

The California coast basically is a socialist shithole

2019-10-09 22:50:00 UTC

There are homeless camps on and under every single bridge and overpass

2019-10-09 22:50:18 UTC

Its the same in Oregon and Washington in the big cities

2019-10-09 22:50:44 UTC

Can confirm. Found hundreds of people under bridges in portland. Smelled like piss.

2019-10-09 22:53:11 UTC

It's a mess. There are a lot of really great cities in the middle of the country but the coast and NE just seem to be shitholes most of the time. And it costs more to live there. I can't see why anyone does it.

2019-10-09 23:01:33 UTC

in strictly practical terms, what can be done with homeless people? the majority of them have mental illnesses, severe drug problems, or both. it's not likely that they can ever be reformed to the point of being self-sufficient members of society.

2019-10-09 23:02:32 UTC

you could go to any major left coast city and find thousands and thousands of them. what do we do with them all?

2019-10-09 23:05:26 UTC

So far as the left coast it is not a solvable problem. Like here if you're a homeless alcoholic/ addict you can go to a shelter and get yourself cleaned up. And with an entry level job you can get a shit apartment, pay bills, but groceries and get your life together. In LA? Even if you get your shit together you won't be able to earn enough to make your life happen.

2019-10-09 23:08:59 UTC

maybe instead of letting farmers hire mexicans on a seasonal basis we can have them hire homeless people (after they've been through detox and mental health screenings)

2019-10-09 23:09:42 UTC

get the homeless out of urban areas where they can't make any progress

2019-10-09 23:10:21 UTC

and have farm labor being done by americans instead of mexicans

2019-10-09 23:11:26 UTC

easier said than done

2019-10-09 23:11:40 UTC

you underestimate the mexican work ethic

2019-10-09 23:13:44 UTC

oh i don't think for a moment that this problem will be solved. just wondering how it possibly could.

2019-10-09 23:15:00 UTC

Id like to think optimistically that there is a way if we could get our congress to stop its mudslinging contest long enough to do their jobs. But that's almost wishful thinking at this point.

2019-10-09 23:17:46 UTC

Yeah I mean it's not Mexican work ethic but really migrant work ethic. I get that it is different in Europe where they have big welfare states but mostly people come here for work. Mexican guy bought the house down the street and has, in the last year, put in 4star energy windows and re-roofed it. Has his oldest out doing the lawn and hedges every weekend.

2019-10-09 23:21:48 UTC

But like I know a Chinese guy in properties and he's the same way. Works 60 hour weeks at his Subway franchise and manages properties when he isn't doing that. Or I got an Uber from a Nigerian guy who is also a CE....

2019-10-09 23:25:25 UTC

I mean some helpful soul was building tiny homes for them

2019-10-09 23:25:32 UTC

Till the left in LA tore them down

2019-10-09 23:32:01 UTC

I dont think anything is going to get done in LA until the next election. If people choose to get better senators/congresspeople so things can be done. But again, wishful thinking I have little faith.

2019-10-09 23:34:40 UTC

back in the day migrants came to become americans. now they come to bring their country to ours. To create insulated communities of their own kind

2019-10-09 23:34:50 UTC

Not quite the same thing... in my opinion

2019-10-09 23:38:54 UTC

Besides the forefathers didnt create America for it to be a country of migrants... It was created by anglo-saxxan protestants for anglo-saxxan protestants. The forefathers wanted a place for their future generations to flourish and benefit from their sacrifice.. America isn't an idea, its a people. Perhaps if specialized labor is needed at a specific time and for a specific purpose, migrants are a good idea.. for example german scientists during WW2. So we could gain an advantage and technology.
