~~I just exist and lurk, I have the sociability of a rotting corpse but I like to keep up with news and things.~~ o7
I mean Idk what that means but im gonna assume its not a good thing?
Stuck in class for another half hour or so, but fine none the less.
Coffee is just bean soup
You right
Man that sharpie thing with Trump is just lighting up like a fire. Cant tell if I should be laughing or not.
seems legit
As someone who typically lurks this is both an interesting conversation and just one giant shitpost.
I mean..Stalin wasnt exactly a saint, either.
Hey people can be fully against something and people can be all for it. Were human that will happen.
^
@TheBrsrkr Why do I feel like your the only one making sense here?
You know I would like to make the point that no one should be hoping for anyone's society to collaspe, thats basically saying you want a group of people to suffer for their inept mistake in government that is slightly out of their control
I mean if socialism is on the topic now Ill just point everyone to Venezula on a map.
Cause that went swimmingly
isnt there a line between Socialism and Communism anyway?
If I recall there is differences but I dont have material in front of me to back me up on that.
I mean when your government is trying to self destruct at this point its hard to have a good veiw of politics. But eh. Who am I to judge.
I mean Britian is a democracy...why wouldnt the people vote on forgien policy. Correct me if im wrong but that doesnt make sense
And people with no Qualifications dont deserve to have a say in politics, then.
but by your own logic you seem to be contridicting that point
Not trying to be rude im just attempting to understand
I mean any system that provides freedom and security is one that will appeal to most, I guess that's also why their are so many that do that, because we as a race cant decide what's right. But don't mind me philopshy is bit boring compared to shitposting.
So for the first time since I joined the server a couple days ago I decided to sit in on the general chat and as i'm writing this its still going on, but two people were going at it about Communism, and anti-communism. And a comment I just made in the chat kind of inspired me to make a invitation to debate something.
The human race as a whole is always looking for two different things in my eyes. Freedom, and Security(or one could call this Peace of Mind.) These two things can be provided by the basis of our societies, a governing body. There are many systems that provide this, Socialism, Communism, Democracy, Monarchy. All of these were brought up as "Solutions" for these two needs at one point or another in the squabbles of the people in <#613767975614283832> . However, it comes to another problem entirely.
The ones who agree with these 4 ideals always clash with the other. Some more than others. This leads into a loop of sorts where neither group can progress their own ideals because they believe the others who disagree are too inept to see "the truth".
To that point, what I would like to ask is the question of, is this true? Are we as a race holding each other back by constantly being at each others throats about what is right or wrong, or is their truly only one way things will be set right? And if so, what would it be?
@Boop / ๋ธํ / C'thUwU Sorry im only just getting to see this. I agree with everyone you said essentially. I guess the biggest thing bugging me has been if Democracy is so essentially was is there so many who are very vocal about it not being as needed. Is it arguable they are just misguided or are they trying to ruin the system on purpose?
Climate change has always been swept under the rug by governments it seems. I've been on the spectrum that believes its a thing, but it seems most are too blinded by greed to do something about it.
Id like to think optimistically that there is a way if we could get our congress to stop its mudslinging contest long enough to do their jobs. But that's almost wishful thinking at this point.
I dont think anything is going to get done in LA until the next election. If people choose to get better senators/congresspeople so things can be done. But again, wishful thinking I have little faith.
