Even if all evidence disproves you then that evidence is false and part of a universal conspiracy
The eternal skeptic can never be wrong
But what is unfalsifiable cannot be trusted scientifically
Hey, I used to be apart of a debate server that recently got banned and there were a couple of socialist on there that changed my perspective a little and now I'm just here because I found them interesting. (This is coming from a non-ironic libertarian)
@TERRIFIED OF YOU What attracted you to libertarianism?
I know many libertarians who, since they were more interested in the freedom part than in the part about protecting private property, quickly became anarchist communists
The others eventually became fascists or neocons of course
Well, I'm a bit unconventional. I'm the nationalist type of libertarian, so I'm more likely to become a fascist than a anarchist. But that's a long road from where I currently am
Are you more interested in individual freedom or maintaining private property?
And I mean material freedom too, not just freedom of choice
Well, I'm more a libertarian because I believe it's the more pragmatic approach. I don't care about maintaining anyone's liberty if it means that it would make society more effective. For example, I could see myself being a supporter of criminals who've committed certain crimes being worked to death in camps instead of being put on the death penalty.
Just a note, I don't currently support putting criminals in interment camps, I just could see myself being convinced to that
Well yes that would seem the most logical approach when social reinsertion is impossible
Executions cost money while labour camps produce energy and wealth
Yeah, but it would have to be undeniable that they committed the crime. I would rather have 20 guilty men go free than 1 innocent man work a camp to death
Idk about working to death
But a more lenient labour camp to give them a form of life
And maybe help them socially in view of a potential future reinsertion
There should be degrees of the camps. Like I have no mercy for child rapist, terrorist, and psychotic serial killers. But
Working with other people can help
Now that I think about it
As long as they are made sure to pose no threat to other members
I wonder how an autoregulated labour camp (by prisoners) would work out
There should be "normal" camps and "death" camps. And i'd also support lengthy psychological help using tax payers money (because I'm not libertarian on everything)
autoregulated?
While they are surrounded by surveillance
Prisoners can collectively organize camp life
So there are some ground rules, but everything else is run by the prisoners?
Like the obvious, no killing, stealing, etc..
Brb I have to wash the dishes because it's been a while
Lol, alright
Not even that
I'm thinking of this as an experiment to see whether even criminals can be inserted in a voluntary/anarchist society
So I imagine sth like an escapable ghetto
The prisoners agree on everything inside
Now let's see if it devolves into a military dictatorship or dystopian egoistic anarchy
Oh, well I've never undertsood anarchism. From my understanding we are just supposed to rely on our neighbors to not do certain things like steal or what not, and if they do any unacceptable things than the group is going to punish that individual for doing something wrong.
But I don't like that idea as it means that if I'm in the wrong group, then there may be a criminal syndicate that extorts me and my neighbors for supplies/money/etc..
I'm not an anarchist and I can see the easy failures of such a system too
But this experiment can serve even a collectivist society under a State
Hm, I honestly believe we as a society are too pussy sometimes.
I don't like how "muh morals" will stop us from doing certain "inhumane" experiments that will benefit the society as a whole
