Currently reading "The Republic for Which It Stands: The United States during Reconstruction and the Gilded Age, 1865-1896" by Richard White

Does anyone know what I can read on the US history? Something that can give me a good overview since I'd be starting with very basic knowledge (a foreigner here, don't judge).
