It's definitely true of the author of A Clockwork Orange. He wrote so in the forward of one of the editions

The things I've written that are cringy to me were cringy at the time. Nothing I've had published bothers me in the least, save one I wish I'd expanded more.

There's just one particular chapter that I wrote that I cringe at but I know I can't rewrite it better

Emotionally close. There are times when we write stuff that gets to us, but anyone else reading it wouldn't bat an eye at it.

My point is, get someone else to look at it, see if it reads "off" to them. If not, then just keep on going.

I've had one guy read it so far, he hasn't said the scene was cringe

so I haven't changed it much
