well it might be a way for us to buy land in bulk, and then splitting it into lots
so we'd still have complete sole ownership of our own lots
we wouldn't be "sharing" the land
as for simply buying a large chunk of land and splitting it up, its certainly doable, but it depends on what you hope to accomplish with that strategy.
maybe have one area where we have a common park, etc.
i know its hard to describe, im just saying that there should be steward of the land where the vast majority of which will fall into
yeah it gets a little complicated
the strategy I like better is just going to a place that already has cheap land and decent infrastructure
why would that be beneficial to sole ownership?
and then encourage people to buy their own lots as time goes on
i dont see the purpose of running a community where everyone gets 10 acres instead of everyone getting 1 and basically sharing or using the 9 together
so we achieve a point of "saturation"
thats sounds like it would just create a lof of conflict
which is why it would be put into a trust of sorts with a steward of fiduciary duty
sounds like a terrible system with nothing to recommend it, private ownership has worked beautifully for Europeans for millenia
not saying its perfect but its better than subdividing large swaths of land into little pieces
why?
the king owned the land
rented land is also privately owned
it could be like an HOA or covenant system
where we own the land, but we get together and set some standards and define use of common areas
like parks, etc.
that sounds like the best idea to me
or DNR land
I have nothing agains other people participating in that kind of system, but personally I have no interest in getting involved in something like that. I like having my own land
you can have your own land the issue with that is that who will produce who would want to take away fro their land to lets say build a greenhouse for everyone...who will put the community barn on their property or will you have to build a barn for everyone
I will have my own land, it will not be shared. Though having agreements between fellow men in the community about keeping our land looking nice, that's fine. But it will be us that keeps our land looking good.
@thatdudeiscool brings up a good point
it's better and easier if we have a few shared resources and buildings
so we will not have a central power station that will most cost effectively provide it will be individualized
In a rural community, it might just be better to set up your own individual power supply
how do other farmers and homesteaders do it these days?
what we really need is a single wealthy dude to buy up around a hundred or so acres, and then parcel out lots for people who want to buy them
well a farmer wont sell their tilled acreage...its the only part that generates a product so it is off limits otherwise you have no farm no matter how many descendants may take it over one day and wish to divide it
and then parts of the land could have communal buildings or resources
im sure there are normal, legal ways to purchase multiple lots from a single seller
yeah but isn't that functionally the same thing?
yeah, the funny thing with the collective ownership being most effective thing is that it's literally always failed
