#repealthe21st

2017-10-26 19:17:32 UTC

Give me one good reason why we shouldn't repeal the 21st amendment

2017-10-26 19:18:45 UTC

(You can't)

2017-10-26 20:19:54 UTC

Because we aren't prudes. Most of the group is okay with the occasional drink, just not alcoholism.

2017-10-26 20:36:48 UTC

I was more looking for arguments on why it wouldn't be effective. In it's efficiency sure but also it's cutdown on degeneracy, drunk driving and sociopathy

2017-10-26 20:37:49 UTC

If no one had alcohol, drunk driving, drunk interpersonal conflict and drunk promiscuity wouldn't occur

2017-10-26 21:07:54 UTC

@Orchid what's the possibility of us all going dutch on a single giant piece of land?

2017-10-26 21:08:07 UTC

and just splitting it up into even parcels?

2017-10-26 21:10:10 UTC

well hmmm i dont like the idea of subdividing land and having individual ownership ...maybe as a first site but going forward that really wouldnt work...im not a communist but the land should be cheap enough that like you wouldnt mind not owning your own piece evenly divided like it would be basically paying admission instead of having sole control over your land ...fuk i sound like a commie i promise im not trying to

2017-10-26 21:10:54 UTC

that sounds pretty communits lol. I have no interest in that kind of arrangment ^

2017-10-26 21:11:25 UTC

well it might be a way for us to buy land in bulk, and then splitting it into lots

2017-10-26 21:11:33 UTC

so we'd still have complete sole ownership of our own lots

2017-10-26 21:11:38 UTC

we wouldn't be "sharing" the land

2017-10-26 21:11:54 UTC

as for simply buying a large chunk of land and splitting it up, its certainly doable, but it depends on what you hope to accomplish with that strategy.

2017-10-26 21:11:58 UTC

maybe have one area where we have a common park, etc.

2017-10-26 21:12:27 UTC

i know its hard to describe, im just saying that there should be steward of the land where the vast majority of which will fall into

2017-10-26 21:12:42 UTC

yeah it gets a little complicated

2017-10-26 21:13:01 UTC

the strategy I like better is just going to a place that already has cheap land and decent infrastructure

2017-10-26 21:13:05 UTC

why would that be beneficial to sole ownership?

2017-10-26 21:13:11 UTC

and then encourage people to buy their own lots as time goes on

2017-10-26 21:13:14 UTC

i dont see the purpose of running a community where everyone gets 10 acres instead of everyone getting 1 and basically sharing or using the 9 together

2017-10-26 21:13:24 UTC

so we achieve a point of "saturation"

2017-10-26 21:14:03 UTC

thats sounds like it would just create a lof of conflict

2017-10-26 21:14:34 UTC

which is why it would be put into a trust of sorts with a steward of fiduciary duty

2017-10-26 21:14:51 UTC

sounds like a terrible system with nothing to recommend it, private ownership has worked beautifully for Europeans for millenia

2017-10-26 21:15:09 UTC

not saying its perfect but its better than subdividing large swaths of land into little pieces

2017-10-26 21:15:16 UTC

@Orlunu well, it wasn't common for the average European to own land

2017-10-26 21:15:17 UTC

why?

2017-10-26 21:15:20 UTC

the king owned the land

2017-10-26 21:15:26 UTC
2017-10-26 21:15:27 UTC

and the peasants worked it

2017-10-26 21:15:47 UTC

rented land is also privately owned

2017-10-26 21:15:52 UTC

it could be like an HOA or covenant system

2017-10-26 21:16:09 UTC

where we own the land, but we get together and set some standards and define use of common areas

2017-10-26 21:16:16 UTC

like parks, etc.

2017-10-26 21:16:41 UTC

that sounds like the best idea to me

2017-10-26 21:16:45 UTC

or DNR land

2017-10-26 21:17:02 UTC

I have nothing agains other people participating in that kind of system, but personally I have no interest in getting involved in something like that. I like having my own land

2017-10-26 21:17:57 UTC

you can have your own land the issue with that is that who will produce who would want to take away fro their land to lets say build a greenhouse for everyone...who will put the community barn on their property or will you have to build a barn for everyone

2017-10-26 21:19:00 UTC

I will have my own land, it will not be shared. Though having agreements between fellow men in the community about keeping our land looking nice, that's fine. But it will be us that keeps our land looking good.

2017-10-26 21:19:31 UTC

@thatdudeiscool brings up a good point
