I've said it before and I'll say it again because it remains true: mainstream conservatism is intellectually bankrupt. It's just pushing empty consumerism, "I ❤️Jesus" bumper sticker sloganeering and hand-wringing concerns of millionaire shareholders.
Conservatives have to choose one of each:
Cheap labor or decreasing immigration
Consumerism or traditionalism
Corporatism or nationalism
Suspicion of surveillance state or demand for surveillance state
Fiscal conservatism or dismissive of deficits
On and on it goes...
The American right can shit on the left all day, everyday but based on what I see the elected leaders on the right are nearly exclusively corporate dick-riders that are empty suits and the right has ZERO solutions on how to change that fact.
