So i just looked at my father side passage to sons family book. Family established from 1100 ad. Apparently there were crusaders within my family. Deus Vult <:Deus_Think:505447701589000192>
Makes me somehow proud. also there were some family members hanged dont know for what crimes exatcly 🤔 <:oof:494878589406150657> any of you guys interested in your family roots
not all crusaders were there by choice
Werent common folks i think many people were highly religious. Family has never left the netherlands. Well some have gone to australia but thats besides the point.
@TwinVickers where do you hail from fellow person.
it doesn't exist
i meant that even if you were very religious like most commoners were, they probably would have preferred to be home rather than walking across the continent to die by the sword.
I'm finnish
Crusaders weren't particularly known for being extremely pious or religious, especially the common folk. They just wanted out of the serfdom system, and the possibility of finding fortune in foreign lands, with the added bonus of all committed sins being removed and the automatic entry into heaven was extremely tempting for the peasantry
Yea
Reminder that Salahdin Ayubi was fucking lit
he is the best muslim
dead <:pepe_smug:378719408341909506>
Also one of the most benevolent rulers in muslim history. Respected all his subjects, no matter religion. <:pepe_smug:378719408341909506>
You just like him because he was a kurd <:pepe_smug:378719408341909506>
Too bad Islam is backwards and devolves as it moves forward
@Mal I sure do have a bias. But prove me wrong. <:GWcorbinTopKek:384871333705678868>
@Fitzydog We have to fast forward the renassaince in the muslim world. That is not something that can be done in the West. But its something htat must happen at the homes in the muslim world.
The Arab spring was so close to becoming that renaissance
Very close. But not quite there.
But, with the access to internet, and the growing liberal population, and the ongoing anger at the islamist rulership in the many nations, we might see an uprising again. Maybe a violent one again, or a subtle change like in Tunisia.
Most of you peeps here dont really speak Arabic nor kurdish, so you cant keep an eye on many of the debates between theologicians etc etc.
Things are changing. Just not fast enough.
Become the Kurdish savior that builds a democracy for refugees to return to
I have already planned on finishing my education here. Go back. Get a good as clinic. Then start doing politics.
Only way to fix the shit is people like me. Sons of daughters of the refugees from many years ago. We are westernized (usually), and people respect us for being educated.
Open a gun store
Iraq, Syria, Iran. All are nations able to change. Persians are doing it themselves, Syrians are really liberal, Iraqis it depends.
