I'd say it looks like a helicopter designed by someone that's only designed normal airplanes before.
Advanced materials hadn't been developed yet, so I guess they were still working with technology and building practices of the era.

They were barely a thing. The German ones were, if I remember right, used in one or two special ops type situations, and I think the Japanese had some prototypes that were never deployed.
And for the the one in that video, I *think* was basically entirely seach and rescure sort of stuff and only got deployed in I think 44.

Yeah, the difference is actual usage vs. wide scale usage as a combat doctrine.
They were still basically expensive toys and occasionally useful tools in 44/45.
