“The case against Kaspersky is well-documented and deeply concerning. This law is long overdue,” said Democratic Senator Jeanne Shaheen.

2017-12-19 00:02:22 UTC

they should of said, "Kaspersky is worse than that cancer McAfee"

2017-12-19 00:02:25 UTC

and she is mistaken, it's not well-documented at all

2017-12-19 00:02:34 UTC

I agree

2017-12-19 00:02:51 UTC

and I agree that they should be able to just say "we'd rather use american products", or "go fuck yourself"

2017-12-19 00:03:05 UTC

I'd make the arguement that most anti-virus products are crap

2017-12-19 00:03:11 UTC

you'd be correct

2017-12-19 00:03:37 UTC

Would this scenario even happen in norway?

2017-12-19 00:04:53 UTC

well, we're in a weird situation, because we have a decent IT security team at the national level, and decent governing regulations for what companies are allowed to do etc (though obviously not perfect)

2017-12-19 00:05:33 UTC

but all our governments day to day software and hardware security is absolutely atrocious

2017-12-19 00:05:56 UTC

you can walk into practically any office and take over their network within seconds

2017-12-19 00:06:22 UTC

wait what!?

2017-12-19 00:07:04 UTC

well, they have exposed wifi networks, all computers are accessible over the counters with exposed USB ports

2017-12-19 00:07:20 UTC

all employees use their own phones on internal networks

2017-12-19 00:07:49 UTC

wow

2017-12-19 00:07:57 UTC

how do you know all of this?

2017-12-19 00:08:01 UTC

watching news?

2017-12-19 00:08:09 UTC

people tell you stories?

2017-12-19 00:08:13 UTC

no, I haven't had a plugged in TV for 20 years, I never watch local news

2017-12-19 00:09:07 UTC

I'm not sure what to say except I've done it, both legally and illegally

2017-12-19 00:09:25 UTC

lol

2017-12-19 00:09:32 UTC

the illegal way was me and a friend distributed fake USB drives at a local political conference

2017-12-19 00:09:40 UTC

with custom stickers on them

2017-12-19 00:09:43 UTC

**NORWEGIAN HACKERS**

2017-12-19 00:09:57 UTC

the legal way was penetration testing hiring

2017-12-19 00:10:33 UTC

as for the wifi and exposed USB ports, anyone can see that if you just walk into an office

2017-12-19 00:10:46 UTC

are people aware about how crap it is or?

2017-12-19 00:11:20 UTC

well, certainly IT people are aware

2017-12-19 00:12:58 UTC

it has gotten better the past 10 years or so

2017-12-19 00:13:55 UTC

and again, at a national defense level, it's much better, and there are competent people operating the backbone routers and such

2017-12-19 00:14:19 UTC

how is it compared to sweden and danemark?

2017-12-19 00:14:43 UTC

I'd imagine it's pretty much the same in the whole world except the US

2017-12-19 00:15:03 UTC

and possibly israel

2017-12-19 00:15:12 UTC

nonono

2017-12-19 00:15:27 UTC

you mean (((**ISRAEL**)))

2017-12-19 00:16:10 UTC

yes, so the kaspersky thing it's not really something that I can even imagine being a priority here

2017-12-19 00:16:24 UTC

I mean I am literally unable to play the scenario in my head, there's so many other things to worry about first

2017-12-19 00:16:44 UTC

like the price of herring or oil?

2017-12-19 00:16:45 UTC

I mean there's no network among offices, there's just email from person to person

2017-12-19 00:17:04 UTC

so even if one local office had kaspersky software, who cares

2017-12-19 00:18:22 UTC

do you have very long days/nights?
